Thumbs up Just got back from Riding w/ a Passenger Lesson #1

after reading this - http://www.msgroup.org/TIP160.html - i went down to my old HS parkin lot & rode w/ a passenger for the first time.... unfortunatly i started w/ the "FINAL EXAM".... my 200lb dad yes i know... not the best idea, but i could tell he was itchin for a ride & he was all i had to work w/.

I rode down, he drove. lemme tell you... i suppose i did just fine, but that was interesting.

we got there, he hopped on & we started slow.... "slow" as in "0mph" just kinda sat there for a few seconds feeling the bike beneath me. then started simple... start moving, go in a straight line till i can't go straight anymore, then make a wide turn to point myself in the other direction & come to a stop. Did that, both left & right, a number of times. Then i started making turns straight from a stop. that was the only really hard part, but i handled it ok.

Pretty uneventfull... stalled once, & only once did i have any fear that i was close to dropping the bike.

sorry for the boring post, but i just thought i'd share & see if anyone had some other tips for me. if you want a post that's a little more eventfull look at the other thread i made today

    MAsco Parking lot Q:

Is the new pavement at Masco still greasy?

Looks like the new configuration would be an excellent spot to practice on...........until the cops hassle you.

um, nah i don't remember it bein greasy at all. at least not enough for me to notice it.

i dont think cops would care too much about someone doing circles at 20 mph in a completely empty HS parkin lot... Especially w/ both of my freakin parents there w/ me (hehehe i'm 24 & sayin that makes me feel like i'm 15... "i was practicing in a parkin lot w/ mommy & daddy" )

It's not like i was tryin to do wheelies while school was in session

Careful when unloading a heavy passenger first time I took my brother for a ride (he is 1.5 times my weight), he knocked me and the bike over when getting off the bike

    Dismount

With twin pipes, I just twist the throttle and they flip backwards between them. They ALL MUST be gymnasts....

    LOL
