I'm not sure where you are located but I went to the one in Boylston MA - Central MA Safety Council, it was a few years ago but I was very impressed with it.

    Re: riding school questions

Hoss, I took MSF BRC @ Streetwise in July 2010, Paul and Ken were excellent instructors and took time to answer any questions you may have.
I enrolled in the the Sat / Sun AM course, rode 1st half of the day classroom 2nd half. Everything they teach you is on the practical test so pay attention.

I had rode dirt bikes when I was a kid and it was amazing how all that comes back to you. They will correct bad habits you may have but not dicks about it. I would highly suggest them.. Enjoy

    Re: riding school questions

the massrmv.com has the certified MSF schools listed.

I specifically wanted to go to the framingham ma one, but their enrollment was too low, so they asked me to go to brockton and offered $50 off for me. I just did it anyways and I had a blast.

No first-hand experience, but this company seems to offer the beginner course in many different locations throughout MA.

    Streetwise is one good option.

Ironstone Ventures is another. They offer the MSF course at Bunker Hill. I've coached at that location a couple of times.

I did Streetwise 3 years ago and I had never ridden before. I thought the class was well taught both in and out of the classroom. No complaints!

I went in 2008 or so, to their location in Acton behind Moto Cafe. Worked well for me!

    Re: riding school questions

I went to Ironstone Ventures back in May '09. I went to the Acton/Ayer location.

The primary instructor was some guy named John who drove a Honda Element, and I believe a VFR. He was alright, not great.

The secondary instructor, I forget who the guy's name was, but he rode an old Connie, wore a modular helmet, and was a complete dick. Make sure you don't get him.

However, Ironstone is still a good place to go to. Alot of my friends who went to Ironstone enjoyed their experiences. The ones who didn't, usually had one of the two aforementioned instructors.

    Re: riding school questions

I'm not trying to bash Ironstone here. I don't believe that one bad apple should spoil the bunch. I've talked to other Ironstone instructors that have sounded very professional.

I'm not trying to flame anyone or anything, just letting them know what to expect.

    Re: riding school questions

Got another Ironstone Ventures recommendation here, went to North Andover in particular, and did it last April. Invaluable experience, knew nothing going in and can ride, albeit slow as fuck, but that's the operator, not the instruction lol
