    Riding through Vietnam

I know there are a bunch of Top Gear fans here -- you all need to download this week's episode (aired yesterday in the UK), in which Clarkson, Hammond, and May are sent to Vietnam and given about $1000 each to acquire a set of wheels. Finding that cars are way too expensive there, they have to buy motorcycles (well, sort of... two of the three are actually scooters, but close enough), much to Clarkson's dismay, of course. And then they have to ride them 1000 miles north from Saigon to a coastal city just south of the Chinese border. Great ep, and seeing Clarkson squeezed onto a Vespa is priceless.

Go to www.finalgear.com for download info.

I kept thinking how much I'd love to be there with my XR650L...

This episode was great! I wasn't sure about it at first, but its definitely worth watching. The "alternative" bike in case theirs broke down was priceless

And yeah, the BBC America shows are at least a year behind and heavily editted.

    Re: Riding through Vietnam

    watched it earlier today.

hilarious, but TG is for car shenanigans. i respect their attempts to diversify, and it was funny, but stick to cars, or make a satellite TG: Motorcycles or something.

i kept hoping they'd find some hilarious way to incorporate the Stig into the ep, but they didn't... (should've had him riding the backup Easy-Rider-mobile)

i'd do it too, if we had several support vehicle chasing us around with cameras so the local wouldn't feel tempted to exact some vengeance over that little spat we had almost 40 years ago

    Re: Riding through Vietnam

I just watched this episode: great stuff!

I like how Jeremy Clarkson's scooter was always on its side when he parked

it was a particularly enjoyable episode for me because I was in south east asia last summer with some friends and:
    -tailored suits are cheap!
-scooters are as rampant as they've shown - people used it to carry more than I see trucks hauling!
-I rented a scooter for dirt cheap (for a few dollars a day?) and got to ride some of the coastal roads (I also did wheelies on some back city streets, heheh): they are truly beautiful
