Felt sick right away watching that. A little wild rider in the beginning but he was def destined for greatness. I was waiting for him to be on a factory ride to enjoy the show. Now he'll never get the chance. 24 yrs old, DAMMIT.

As much as my heart goes out to Marco, his friends and family, it goes out to Colin and Valentino just as much. Such a horrible thing to be directly involved in.

    Godspeed, Marco Simoncelli.

Whatta a horrific accident. Sucks how his bike dragged him under into Colins and Rossi's path.

    Re: RIP Simoncelli

I'm sure that Edwards is very shaken up. I saw the footage over and over and I personally do not believe that there was nothing Colin could have done to avoid contact. As a matter of fact, one can see that Colin had already adjusted his positioning prior to Marco entering into the view of the camera.

Unfortunately, Marco was dragged right into the path of Edwards and Rossi...I submit that even in the unlikely event that Colin avoided Marco it is clear that his bike would have gone straight to Rossi.

    Very, very sad.

Unfortunately this event reminds of Shoya Tomizawa death circumstances. I suppose that the thing that scares me the most in road racing is being hit by another rider.

Ive been hit before. It hurts. I got very lucky to only be sore after the fact. There is an outstanding video of it somewhere.

There was absolutely nothing Colin or Valentino could have done. All those guys are so far on the edge of what can be done. Once they choose a line they are committed to it.

My friend Shannon Bitzer died that same way at Blackhawk doing a track day back in '05... As hard as it is for the family and friends of the lost rider, I can not imagine how hard it is on the guy that hit him.

Yeah... erring on the side of caution, I removed the vid... This is obviously quite a sensitive topic for some people. If others want to see it, they know where to find it. It's readily available on youtube.

Definitely some shocking and heart dropping footage

Logged into the motogp website this morning to watch the race. When I saw that the video was only 35 minutes, I was hoping that Indianapolis-like monsoons were going to be the cause of a shortened race -- but the feeling in my gut told me otherwise. Damn sad day.

    Re: RIP Simoncelli

Simoncelli made MotoGP exciting for me. Brought some life back on to a grid deadened by electronic controls. He was just starting to get his feet on the podium and now this...terrible. MotoGP has taken a hard hit today.

Edwards and Rossi are worse off at this point as I'm sure they are wondering what they could have done differently to avoid that. Rossi, being his friend...ugh...I can't imagine being in that position.

    God speed Super Sic...
