I have a RK chain on the KTM that has the clip on it now. I have the RK chain breaker/rivet kit so I was going to rivet the chain on. I got out the master link that is the rivet version but it does not have the holes in the end of the link for the mushrooming to happen. It just has two metal W shaped clips that I have never seen. Do you just press fit the plate on, it seems like it will be on there pretty tight? What are those clips for?

They are spacer tools you use to tell you when the end plate is pressed on enough to stop you pressing it on too far. You remove them when the end plate is on far enough (not too tight, they will jam in there. Then you use the peen tool to peen the ends of the links.
So the tool will still be able to mushroom the ends without the holes being in the end of the link?
Edit: Thanks for the help!
