    RMV Screwed up Mileage

Just noticed the RMV here input 45,000 miles on my title instead of 4,500. Is there an easy way to get this corrected? Bike has 4,600 on it now.

I'm moving to CA...would it make sense to get this sorted before I leave or fix it in CA when they issue a new title?

I'd say fix it here in case there's any hoops you have to jump through.

Because tracking down the previous owner and getting them to give you a notarized affidavit is so easy.

RMV fucked up something (mileage I believe) on Wordtooyomamma's bike and told him HE would have to pay for the new corrected title.

I'd just roll with it. I can't remember which, but I know it happened to 2 of my bikes. Both subsequent purchasers understood and didn't make a gripe about it.
Plus, it could justify a ridiculously low price written on a bill of sale to help save the new owner some sales tax, if you know what I mean.

    Re: RMV Screwed up Mileage

I'm going to have to roll with it. It's $25 for them to issue a new title due to THEIR screw up. I'm moving this weekend and it's just not worth the aggrevation.

I'll look into getting it corrected out west but I've come to terms with it if i can't. Just have to remember that DMV employees need their work triple checked.

    Re: RMV Screwed up Mileage

I took my time but finally changed title/registration to CA. Since they had to physically verify the mileage on the odometer, the new (CA) title now reads the proper mileage. I wonder if a CarFax report will show a mileage issue...not that I care.

    Re: RMV Screwed up Mileage

I'm convinced that if Dinosaurs were still around, we wouldn't have anyone to work the registry. They screwed up my boat trailer registration a number of years ago. After about 8 times back and forth at the registry, each person wanting something else, the guy at the wildlife place gave me the forms I needed and the procedure to fix the registry's problem. He knew exactly what they did, said they did it a lot. Funny, the guy who doesn't even work in that division knew what was going on better than the mouth breathers that were trained to be behind that counter.

Anyway, glad you got everything worked out. Sounds like CA's extending inspection regimen worked out for you.
