Re: Road Glide vs. Street Glide
Errrr...the 2017 Super Glide Special is the early M8? :dunno:
Either way, I went with Rinehart 4" slip-ons, chrome with the black tip. I want SOME noise, but can't stand that loud snapping bullshit that makes my hair stand on end. I've heard 'em on a few, knew what I liked & didn't, and I watched many a You Tube videos to guide me in that choice. Big Shirl splurged on the backrest set-up for herself.
And of course, Big Shirl got a little taken in by the 15% off on day of purchase scheme. Funny though - they didn't have much in stock that fit her. They had to order a few things for her. Apparently, they still think gals her size don't ride Harleys or some shit. LMFBO!
I was equally surprised how inexpensive SOME of branded stuff is. I found it funny though that most of the jackets don't come with any armor, but they have armor packages available for them.
I could have really done without the bell ringing though. Jeeeeeeessssuuuuusssss...that was fuckin' lame! Even embarrassing to a point.

Derp. I thought the M8 motor wasn't until 2018. Shows how much I've been paying attention.

Uh-greed!
So you bought this from a dealer? Rochester?
Seacoast is the same program. I was glad I took delivery on a very quiet Tuesday night. Got run thorough that dog and pony in relative privacy.
Did you get an exceptionally lame photo of you in the parking lot with your new bike? Is it like mine where there is a row of shitbox rust-bucket pickups in the background? Christmas card material.

Yeah, my photo was taken out back at the Rochester shop (they're sisters with Seacoast & Boston). It was far too shitty outside. LOL! I fought 'em every step of the way: the ridiculous photo opp, the bullshit bell crap. WTF? From what I'm told, that's all protocol now at the Harley Dealers.
Although I will say they really roll out the red carpet and play all the pomp that I've never experienced at a motorcycle dealership. It's usually get 'em in, play the silly game, seal the deal & then out the door you go. The tour, meeting every-fuckin'-person'-that-works-there, the "day of discount", blah-blah-blah, was still pretty cool.
And I have to admit...so far I'm pretty pleased with the overall experience dealing with them. Once we got through the typical dealership & salesman bullshit, things went fairly well. Got them down to a few thousand $$ below average retail, got *pretty much* what I needed for mine and we were shaking hands.
On a side note: National Powersports really screwed the pooch on a couple deals I would've gone with. The lamest was simply putting a rear tire on a 2014 Street Glide Special I would have gone with. A FUCKIN' TIRE! They wanted me to split the retail cost on parts & labor for it. The fuck is THAT? All they had to do was put a rear tire on it and it was a done deal. Nope. On another one I was looking at there - which was the same bike I bought but with some miles on it, they decided to try to pull a fast one and give me $500 less on my trade. Like, tried really sneaking that through. Again, that $500 could have easily sealed the deal.

Re: Road Glide vs. Street Glide
Yeah. National scared me off with sticker shock. Strange day when a dealer can undercut them there.
My negotiation also went pretty smooth and professional. No "four squares" bullshit or anything like that.
Unfortunately there was some heartache with the financing paperwork. I can't tell if that was on them or my credit union though.
The delivery theatrics were way too over the top for me. I resisted for a bit but quickly realized I was just pissing into the wind. Easier to shut up, shake hands, nod politely and get on with it.

Re: Road Glide vs. Street Glide
You will like the slip on’s. I went with the Cobra ones as they were a shit ton cheaper and gave it just a little bit more grunt. My Soft tail has the V&H short pipes and they are fucking loud! I don’t really dig the over the top loud ass pipes but it is what it came with. I will eventually swap them with something else, my neighbors will like that too.

No sticker shock at National, really. And they really weren't undercut by Rochester HD. The one I ended up with has about 21,000 less miles and has the MVP service record from the dealership. Couple that with the 15% they gave us on the Rineharts & backrest package and it was worth the extra in my mind.

Yup, I fought it too. The couple people we were dealing with basically told us if we didn't play along they get shit. I too eventually gave up and dropped my pants.

I've heard the Rineharts on a *similar* bike and really liked 'em. They gave us a little help besides the 15% off, which again was way more than we EVER expected from a Harley Dealership!

Re: Road Glide vs. Street Glide
Nice to hear you had a good experience with Rochester. Again nice ride. I did make the mistake of asking for an trade in price on my current ride on line . Endless phone calls I finally had to block the number..

I was really partial to the silver 2014 at National Powersports. If they had just put a rear tire on it, it's be sitting in my garage now. Ironically, he JUST left a message on my voicemail. Can't wait to call him back and let him know!
Although, I can certainly live with the black! :spit:

Ha! It's for slamming upshifts. 'Cause, ya know...Harleys LOVE slamming upshifts...
Meh, we'll see how it feels. My wheeler has the same set-up and I've been jamming on that for years. We shall see. Some love it, some hate it.

Re: Road Glide vs. Street Glide
Comes off with a few turns of a wrench. Goes in a box, on a shelf, never to be seen again.
I think the two shifters are symmetrical. So you have a spare.
Stay on top of the linkage bolts. I hear they can come loose and tear up the shafts.

Re: Road Glide vs. Street Glide
You will need to try my Pegboard floorboards. I can’t believe how much more comfortable they are to ride with. The taller windscreen is key as well.

Re: Road Glide vs. Street Glide
What is going on with all this Harley talk lately?.... C'mon NESR - this is a motorcycle forum!

We were actually looking longer than that. We had them where we wanted them on both ends of the purchase/trade, and they were about to pull out and no longer honor the deal we struck. We saw our opp and struck.

In hindsight, I should have caught the whole pic thing. In the heat of battle, they had us sign a photograph use waiver. I should have clued in.

Ha! I really want to hear the tone in his voice when I remind him that a rear tire would have gotten me on their 2014 or that other $500 on my trade that disappeared would have landed me on the 2017. And I *WILL* remind him.
