    Tron lid.

    Ssssssssssswwwwwweet

Glow in the dark. I guess Shark & Suomy are marketing them.

Give me a normal lookin helmet that lightly glows its actual color at night and maybe I'd rock it.

    Re: Tron lid.

I used to do custom paintwork for a living (if you want to call it that!) and I used to make my own glow in the dark. I bought an industial phosphourescent powder but it was very rough and grainy. I built a ball mill that I would use to mill the powder finer. House of Kolor sold a powder (coarser than mine) and a couple teaspoons cost what I payed for a 1/4 pound. All the white on the attached helmet glowed in the dark for a couple hours. It was for a kart racer and it looked cool doing down the back straight in the dark!

I dig it. Always wished the helmets with graphics had seamless reflecting/glowing properties built in.

I never understood why reflective paint (or at least aspects in some regard) aren't already integrated into helmets. The cost would surely be negligible compared for a $3-700 helmet.

Agreed... especially considering that some states, like Vermont, actually have a legal requirement to have a certain amount of reflective coverage on helmets. Here in Vermont that technically means you have to apply reflective stickers to your helmet (although few people do and I've never heard of it actually being enforced). If the helmet manufacturers used reflective paint on the helmets, people could be in compliance with the law without having to cover up the graphics.

Search for helmet halo -- minimal cover up, lotsa glow.

No gear can make you a squid IMHO... although some gear can sure make you look like a squid.

That's interesting about the VT requirement. I actually do put reflective tape on my helmets since I regularly ride in Boston, but if I rode in VT I probably wouldn't bother. I'd absolutely pay extra for a lid with reflective paint from the factory, that'd be well worth it to me. I end up spending $5-10 on the stickers anyway.

That helmet is sick. Even if it didn't glow in the dark, minimal graphics ftw.

Nice, kinda reminds me of the Caberg Konda.

I love helmets that you don't see too often, even if just to look at them. I've always enjoyed checking out www.designerhelmets.com just to see what new crazy designs are out there.

This is just a proof of concept that I threw together in an afternoon.

    I used EL-Wire (Electroluminescent Wire).
I bought mine in 5 foot lengths for about $12 and it includes the 2AA battery power supply.
With a bit of epoxy, some carpenters tape and a little patience this is what I ended up with.

The power supply that comes with the EL Wire has three modes.
    On, Blink and Fast Blink
You can't see it but during the video I reached in and pressed the button on the power supply to change modes.

It could be. You could always splice another foot or so of regular wire onto it.

Do a google search of EL Wire or Electroluminescent Wire.

    I purchased mine here.
