And I love it. No pics yet. Sorry. An 05 1000rr has a bit more scream than a 99 superhawk. I can vouch for it. It's alot more comfy than I expected. Feels light, too! Doesn't sound as cool as the booming twin, but it sounds like adrenalin!

It's got a power commander and a slip-on, and I think it's running a bit rich. Plus I really want to fiddle with it. I have a good understanding of engine management, I just don't know what I need to mess with it! Does anyone know?
I have a laptop, usb cables and a power commander.

You need to download the software.

When connected it will look like an excel spreadsheet with RPMs and throttle percent...
0 indicates what the stock ECU would give you.
    +1 is richer
    - 1 is leaner

I wouldn't mess with it too much manually
unless you have some way to monitor the fuel air mix.
Even going up or down 4 or 5 units here and there can take you into lala land.

You could try installing a pre-made map that's spec-ed for you bike and pipe... that will get you in the ball park till you get it mapped for real.

But I have to say playing with it is pretty cool.
    I have one on my 05 600RR.
You can vary the performance alot more than you think. Again though best to get a pro do a custom for you.

Thanks for the info, I figured it would be something like that. I have an analyzer, but no dyno. Oh well. My fiddling will be limited.

Where can you get pre-made maps?

Congrats. Now lets have some pics!

I am curious to hear more about your feelings going from a twin to the in line four power house.

I am on the fence as to which 2007 Model bikes to buy for the new ride.

I will be riding my new bike home tomorrow, stopped at my dealer tonite, the freight company confirmed delivery of 4 crates from suzuki tomorrow of which one is my 07 V-Strom 1k, they will start prepping it as soon as it arrives, and even move over my electric jacket liner & battery tender pigtails from my SV that is still in pieces in their shop

should have time to put a hundred or so miles on before it starts to sleet saturday may be iffy riding too, but forcast for sunday & monday is good, maybe I can have it broken in and first service for day after christmas

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow. My VTR had a serious amount of engine work into it(119.7hp @ the wheel impressed me for that bike), so it was fast. Add to that one tooth down in the front and 1 tooth up in the rear, it was pretty stupid. I actually regretted that modification.

There's no question that the CBR is faster. The thing I noticed, is the superhawk tore your arms off in 2nd gear to redline at about 35MPH(or more!) less than the CBR, because of the gearing. Though the CBR makes as much as, or more, thrust.

I'm telling you, think 400hp Charger(or any muscle car), to a 500hp Lamborghini(or any super sports car). It'll take some getting used to, but I might say I like I-4's better someday.

All this after being a DIE HARD lover of twins.

    Thanks for the PCIII info!!
