Heres a condom. I figured since youre acting like a dick, you should dress like one too.
That's pretty messed up. The cop had the right to determine how much he feels like fining. How about they fine those huge semi's that can't even navigate the road. I think they're more of a threat.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

Yip. I Remember hearing about this talk last year, and now it's finallized. Dam...
Looks like if I ever ride the Blue Ridge again it will be at an easy pace. Thats hard to do, that road is so nice with smooth wide sweepers.. Not worth the fines. They can get you up to $1500 now if they decide you should show up in court for extreme reckless driving...

I don't know.. when I rode it with you guys it was at 50-70mph and we were still having a ton of fun...
I rode the skyway much faster by myself but that was just stupid. The road is too easy to ride fast on, and it is way too dangerous if you fuck up. Thousand foot drops, rocky cliffs 10ft from the road, etc.. (Not to mention the people in cars not paying attention)
If I ride back down that way again it is not going to bother me to keep the speeds sane. Even if you were to do the whole thing at 35mph it is still fun due to the amazing view.
In this case I gotta side with the cops/rangers... I would like to hike/bicycle along that route at some point, and I don't want guys doing 100+ on their sportbikes when I'm on the road or even off in the grass taking a picture or something. Maybe if sportbikers took responsibility into their own hands this wouldn't happen. I'm sure they only did this because they were sick of sending helicopters out to medivac riders who splattered themselves along the mountains.
120 mph is the top speed----- Jesus what were they riding? That's so slow.

You can ride that road much faster, It was just the speed they were caught at ! I wouldn't go 120, but I bet someone with racing experience and was familiar with the road could do an average speed of 120, maybe a top of 150 in some straights.Originally posted by rmbbikes

No kidding... I'm sure even a 500 or a 250 can hit 100+ on many of the straights even if the rider is not carrying tons of speed through the corners.
This story is 5 months old BTW.. nothing new here.
We probably would have heard stories of riders getting busted by now if they really cracked down...
And that reminds me:

I think reports said "The rider on a ZRX-1200" barely was able to hit 120!!!
I am so frikin pumped for deals. Just confirmed my x-mas presents from the Rents and Girlfriend....gift certificates to Brockton Cycle Center for boots suit and some other protective goodies.
If that doesn't go through I'm going to be forced to sew pucks onto my jeans.

FWIW I think that the parkways are one of the few places that it IS safe to hit triple digits...
the road is engineered.. there are no surprise turns with radius changes (decreasing or increasing) no surprise vertical curves
there are a lot of pull offs but they are well marked
I wouldn't attempt on a weekend with tons of cagers & hikers, or at night when animals are out but I look at the parkways as probably the safest public streets.

The pavement quality & road design contribute to it's safety but it has plenty of downsides which make it less safe than a regular road...
- Guard rails to smack
- Rocks to smack
- cliffs to fall off
- no cell phone coverage
- long wait for emergency services
- very few grassy areas to run off into if you fuck up
It's no race track
hmmm that sounds like a typical road too me, north of lakes region in NHOriginally posted by benVFR

No vow-o-silence, just haven't been around for awhile...on anything. Had the last semester, graduating, family, no riding (all fall...very depressing), no money, finding new job, holidays, crunch. Very relieved now it's over. Also, back with DSL and wireless home network...a whole new world.
