    Route help

Looking to do a few 2-4 day rides in august. They need to be epic. Leaving from boston suburbs, anyone have suggestions? Or even better GPX routes?

Do you have a general direction in mind? My first though would be to north up through nh and maine then cut over to nova scotia or head towards montreal then drop back in around upstate ny.

I was thinking Nova Scotia could be great, is it doable in 4 days?

10hrs+ on the highway. !6 off highway. each way from Boston to Mid NS. That's 8hrs in the saddle every day. I usually aim for 6 hrs, which turns into 8 with stops and stuff. Might be a little aggressive. Look into taking the Cat ferry from Portland.

Looked into it, but it eats up a whole day, I would rather ride for the day to get there.

plan a route to Unadilla, NY and hit the MX National Aug 12. it's beautiful in the hills out there and the track is otherworldly.

I don't know much in southern NH/MA but I frequent the VT RT100 > RT125 > T**** Road > Lake Placid trip on weekends... maybe mix Hogback Mountain in there. Plenty of amazing roads to go from there once you're up that way.

Long weekend, this could be two days if you were inspired, four days relaxed. We did 430 miles one day and that was a lot less fine than 200-250.

There are a baillion routes on Advrider.

    Re: Route help

Here's a couple to play with:

    Keene to Isle La Motte

Isle La Motte to Eastern VT and Back

    Isle La Motte to Keene

Keene to Lake George and Back

These are almost entirely pavement. I'd also add in a section going into the Adirondacks (and T**** rd). I'll leave that up to you.

Tracey Road (Essex County Route 6) is only one of the awesome Essex County routes to explore, best riding in the northeast is in Essex County

my route suggestion...... forget the "routes", just pick a general area to explore, turn here, turn there, discover what you will find on roads that don't have route numbers

    Illion Gorge is nice

I've been planning a fishing trip up to Maine for the longest time, just haven't gotten around to it yet. The roads choices were based on Butler Maps ratings.

Oh, such a beautiful tarmac. Look how smooth it is. See how smooth it is? And it's warm, and it's hard. - Charley Boorman, Long Way Round

Ok. New thought. Would love to be able to see the eclipse on the 21st. How bad would it suck to slab to ashville and back to spend 2 days bouncing around there. Or is there a great 2 day route there, 1 day bouncing around and then slab back? Looking 8/19-8/22

    Re: Route help

I don't see this going well for anyone east of the Mississippi River. Traffic in the Blue Ridge Mountains will be unlike anything that has been seen before. And it's not like one can just divert
to a side road to get away from it all. My own plan is to be in eastern Oregon where there is very little population, but still a good chance at clear skies. And to be ready to divert the morning of, depending on the cloud cover forecast.
