    Route through MA to NY...

Heading to NY for a friend's 30th this weekend, and thought I'd take this route as it's a) easy to remember and b) zero highway.

Route 62 to Route 9 to NY Route 7.

The girl wants to stop in Sturbridge hence the detour.

Anything to watch out for / change / etc. like heavy construction?

Yep, on the ZRX w/ the girl on back. We rode down to the ferry to Nantucket and back in March, so this is a bit of a step up for her distance wise... wanna stay off the highway but also not want to kill myself in traffic / on crappy roads.

As you know 62 can get crappy up here depending on the time you leave but I can't help much after that.

We're leaving tomorrow, kickstand up before 9 am.... traffic around *here* shouldn't be much of an issue. I'm more concerned about major road work, really bad road conditions, etc.

I was gonna say going up past the rink and the lights for wayside commons would have sucked even on a saturday, all the dumb visitors to the mall.

You'll hit a lot of lights and stuff in Pittsfield and Lenox. Try to continue further west to NY route 22, it's a nice road with some beautiful views of rolling farmland and hills. It only goes through small towns and has a higher speed limit and lots more passing zones than route 7. I've done both routes a lot and really prefer NY22. That said, 7 through CT is really pretty too...

I usually stay on 117 all the way to 110, so as to avoid going through Clinton. You can cut through South Lancaster and pick up 62.

Nice new asphalt between Princeton and Barre.
