    route or road recomendations?

take146 to 20 to 140 to 202 to 122 to 2 into new york. 2 is very nice going over the mountain threw florida and then down threw a hair pin. once in NY IDK last time I was there it was dirt just a few miles over the NY line.

I would rather hit rt 17 in vt though

I would ask when you were going but by bike might fall apart in that long of a ride

Screw Mass and NY, if you have a week, get your ass to Nova Scotia on the Cat and check out the Cabot Trail.

    route or road recomendations?

Rt. 2 from 122 over is a complete waste until you get to N. Adams.

I would definitely head west cutting through the Berkshires, west and north, hitting the mountain on Rt. 2 going over through Florida, MA. Only decent section of the whole road IMO until you get to the Taconic Trail (rt. 2 as it crosses from MA into NY). In NY I had a blast this spring getting myself lost heading south, and then back north up towards Schenectady and eventually Saratoga springs. Alot of the roads east of there cut through farm land, up over hills, and windy all over the place. Hell, head out to the Catskills. Never been myself, but I guess theres some good riding out there. VT is a personal favorite of mine as well, Rt. 131, 125, 73, 17, 100, 112, 106, etc etc.

Whats your time frame, got a few days to kill, or just looking for a few day rides?

8a on the south side is all bumpy and it puts you onto the "boring" part of 116, and 8a on the north side is all tar snakes and utter garbage if you ask me. I think there are better side roads to be had that parallel 8a on both the north and south sides, you just have to find them.

Get a map. Look at the Adirondack State Park. Spend two days staying inside the green. Any road will do. Do 'em all. Spend a night in Lake George and another in Lake Placid. If you have more time, and are willing to put up with some 'B' roads instead of 'A' roads, a ride to Alexandra Bay in Thousand Islands is worthwhile.

If you can wait til mid Sept I usually do a 1 or 2 night ride to the Daks....

The entire length of Rt 100 in Vermont is nice.

Rt 17 between 100 and 116 is great.

Rt 140 between Poultney and East Wallingford is a lot of fun.

If you head up Rt 100, you could turn east on Rt 2, pick up Rt 302, head east into NH, south on Rt 5 to North Haverhill, east on 116 to 112, east on 112 over the Kancamagus Highway to Conway.

Another nice ride: from Burlington take Rt 2 through the Champlain Islands, turn left onto Rt 9B in Rouses's Point, NY, turn left onto Rt 9 and follow it through Plattsburgh. Past Keeseville, where Rt 9 runs alongside I-87, make a left onto Rt 22 and follow it through an assortment of small towns along the shore of Lake Champlain. Around Port Henry, NY, you could either head west a short distance and explore some of the roads in Adirondack Park, or you could head east over the Chimney Point bridge back into Vermont.

Watch your speed in NY though -- lots of state troopers, even on back roads. Southern VT seems to have quite a few cops as well. But if you stick to the smaller roads in central/northern VT, chances are you'll ride all day without seeing a cop aside from maybe one or two small-town cops within their city limits.

Go down to Deal's Gap, but stay >10 miles away from it. You'll ride for a solid week on dream roads without hitting any twice.

It's not just one road down there, I don't know how many times we have to say it......
