    WRS vs. Penguin Track Experience

I have a credit left over from last year when I got sick and missed the Women's Riding School track day. As the July 23rd date for this year is quickly approaching I'm having a tough time deciding if I want to sign up for the WRS, or use the credit for a Penguin "Track Day Experience." I'm just wondering which type of track day I would benefit from at this point, especially since I have picked up a bit more fast this season especially on the street in the last couple weeks. By the time the WRS rolls around in a couple weeks I will have 4 Bomo track days under my belt, plus the one from last season. Anyone have any input? Especially those I have been riding with lately? Chuck? Cheese? I guess I'm a little hesitant to do the WRS and possibly get stuck behind a cruiser on track (yes, I know they break it up into groups) but at the same time it might be nice to be in a faster group on a less crowded track for a day... Any input is appreciated.

Re: WRS vs. Penguin Track Experience

Lauren...having coached at both the BOMO and the WRS, I think you'd get much more from the Penguin Track Day Experience.

WRS is an awesome event and has introduced a lot of women to track days.

With the experience you already have however, I think you'll get more out of the Penguin experience....

    ...not sure about the samitches!!!

I just read on their site that:
    Pets
We discourage riders from bringing their pets to the event. We will not/cannot be responsible for your animal(s). Your pet cannot be in the pit garages or near our event area. Pets must be kept on a leash. Our first concern is for the safety of our Riding School Participants.

    Sorry hun.

So if the presence or lack thereof of samitches is not a deciding factor, and the consensus is to do a Penguin day.... which of the two types of one day schools would be best? The track experience or basic course? Here are the descriptions from their site...http://www.penguinracing.com/pages/2...ay_schools.cfm

I am an instructor at both the Women's Riding School and Penguin Track Day Experience. Given your input, I would agree with Dave 100%.

Lauren...having also taken the Race School, I would recommend the Track Day Experience. The Race School will spend a lot of time prepping for the written test for your license and will put you on track with a bunch of folks wanting to race with no passing rules. The Track Day experience will get you lots of track time!!!

    ...my 2 cents....

Do the basic course, you are fast enough; we will make sure you learn a lot and have fun.

Scottg22 is the leader of the instructors at The Track Experience, I help him as well as doubling up to teach the basic and advanced.

A lot of the track exp. is geared towards riders that have never been to the infield; introducing them to the track, flags, what to expect. You sound like you have all that, take the basic class.

I don't know, I think it would be more beneficial if you did the WRS, This way you are with other like minded women who also need to learn proper technique's to making Samiches.

All kidding aside, Do The Track Day experience.

    Shut up Dave.

I think this rider will be ok while passing, the Track Experience is just that, another track day, albeeit with racing instructors as control riders.

Yep. Get your fast on and c'mon in.

Would your certificate cover it, or just for the Track Day experience?

Re: WRS vs. Penguin Track Experience

I have a $280 credit, which I think I can use for the race school, track day, or WRS which are all the same price.
Soooo....what would be the advantage of doing the race school if I don't neccesarily plan or racing (or have the funds to do so) this season, and may possibly be heading to Cali in the fall? I know the license has to be used within a year of getting it, right? Is it good just for Louden or other tracks too? i.e. tracks in CA, I think most of the races out there are WERA? I may be wrong.
