Primarily looking to make a day of a ride out there. Gonna slab it back.

Headed out Friday for a family weekend and looking for a nice and twisty route.

Rt3 N to 40 W to 119 9 W will get you as far as Bennington. The rest is up to you.

Not much is on Rt 119 or 9, but there are definitely spots in Brattleboro. If you can wait that long, the Madison Brewing Company in Bennington is worth the stop and so is the Blue Benn Diner. Otherwise Yelp is your friend.

Rt 116 from Deerfield to Adams is nice, not sure about condition of the road.

Last time I was out there I ate at the GoNomad cafe, but I hear it's closed. Old Deerfield is worth meandering through. Word is colors are awesome.

Sugarloaf Frosty in Sunderland has fans, very retro.

9W through VT is fun. Up and down Hogback.

Once you get into NY you are pretty much out of my realm of knowledge. I dipped my toe over there this season and only really learned enough to know I need to go back.

I'm also a tight wad; I pack a sandwich and a shitload of water.

116 Amherst to Adams is in good shape. 8A between 116 and 2 is also in good shape if you want to run the hairpin and Mohawk Trail. There's also a restaurant on the hairpin, but I've never stopped to eat there yet.

the pizza place at letter "B" is pretty good too. Had like 6 of their garlic knots. Weird stop. Shell (i think) station on the South. Pizza, massage place and a craft beer store on the North. Thats it.

This looks way better than 9 to me. Partly because I've done 9 eleventy-billion times at this point.

But I would do this +/- some other stuff.

Well what's the other stuff. I'm all for going up and around the lake, as I feel it's my deed to hit the T rd if I'm gonna be out that far.

The Rogers Island Visitors Center has a bunch of historical stuff about Robert Rogers (Considered the father of U.S. Army Ranger units) but has very limited hours this time of year.

    For the noob:
9 across vt and north, or 30 out of Brattleboro NW across the state?

Edit: is the bridge on 185 open?

Edit 2: or 30w to 100n all the way to Hancock to 125 w to that bridge again on 185.

Are they still open, or are they closed due to the shutdown?

Any chance you can spend an extra day? Although the routes posted look entertaining I can't help but think they've offered a twisty route to Loudon but you'll stop at the parking lot instead of going out on the track once you arrive. The best riding is just to the left of Lake George in the Adirondacks. Twisty roads, pristine pavement, minimal traffic and plenty of scenery. If it can't happen I understand but thought it worth throwing out there as an option.

I'm making a day of a ride out there. I'm going nowhere near loudon. I'm leaning towards slabbing it towards Groton, then headed out towards Brattleboro, and that's where the indecision sets in. 9 across westbound and then north, or NW?
I gotta hit t rd before I drop back down south, since I'll be out there. That's my only requirement.

    It was just an analogy.

T* Rd was clean 2 weeks ago except for one large bump in the eastbound lane that's marked with a green "X" painted on the pavement. It follows a right hand turn and it was in my line after hugging the apex then drifting left exiting the turn.

    Enjoy!
