looking to get a new bike was wonderin bout gas milage on a few diff bikes... like a gixxer600, 750ninja, CBR900rr, CBR929/954 and a R1 are they pretty much all about the same or the more CC's the more gas u burn? so meny bikes to choose from not sure what to buy lol. anyone kno a good place to buy chrome rims? and where would you go to get the frame of ur bike polished/chromed? thx Smokey

You'll get anywhere from 35 to 60 miles per gallon with those bikes.

What are you so worried about gas mileage for. Dont spend the money on bling bling, and you'll have tons of money left over for gas.

Or just do like every rider I see in Manchvegas, and just ride up and down Elm St. revving the piss out of the bike and racing from stop light to stop like every 100 feet. I mean, you're never very far from a gas station on Elm St. so I wouldnt worry about it.

the 600cc bikes (in my experience get in between 45-60mpg, once you get to the 1000cc you get from about 35-45mpg, the 750's and 900's i would assume fall somewhere in the middle of those ranges. also has a lot to do with how you ride the bike and what mods you do to it, the harder the ride or more mods usually lower the mileage.

Yeah, seriously, even with my 95, carburated 600cc bike, I'll get anywhere from 40 to 60mpg, all dependent on how I ride the bike that day. You could shift at 4k all day and get 60mpg, or ring the thing to redline in every gear and cruise way up in the power band, and suck gas like a 5.0liter v-8. Its all up to you.

My 04 R1, I always got 48-50mpg. it was so consistant and simple so I always knew.. 175 miles and it took 3.5 gallons.

My 2006 R6 got 29mpg on my first tank, and has averaged about 35 mpg on the rest so far... and I'm not exactly running the piss out of it

Having switched back and forth from R1 to R6 3 times, the R1s have always gotten at least 10mpg more than the R6.

The 06 R6 is the worst bike I've ever owned on fuel and the 1998 carbed R1 was the best bike I've ever owned on fuel.... Well I did get 80mpg once on my KTM450 but that was a break-in ride and I never saw that again.

The theory is the bigger motors will use more gas but that's not the case at all. The more power and torque the motor has, the less it has to work to do the same job. Lower RPM uses less fuel

That's not exactly the point I was trying to make

At 70 mph the R1 was at 5k rpms, at 70 mph the R6 is at 7k rpms.

My truck has one of those computers that stores all kinds of cool info and I've found you get your best milage when the average speed is 55-60mph. It drops off 1mpg for every 10mph either way

dude, you want good mileage, get a 250. I got 85MPG when i had that biatch. went for a ride with some 1000s and a 600 and filled up half as much, half as often. my SV650 gets 35-50 depending how I ride it. the bigger the engine, generally speaking, in the same year bike (I would imagine that matters), the more gas you go through. and I think carb'ed bikes use less than FI.

Horsepower & bad aerodynamics = poor economy. Naked bikes will be a little worse then faired bikes but power/gearing & how you use it are the biggies.

Personally I would be more worried about tank range, almost all sportbikes are fine when it comes to fuel economy, even if you end up only getting 30mpg you are not going to be spending much to fill the tank, $10-13 at most depending on how bad gas prices are. My last fillup was $11.64 for 4.1 gallons I think? I only got 33mpg for that tank (sitting in traffic) which is crap for my bike but who really cares, it's still far better then my car.

What is is more annoying is having a bike which only goes 70-100 miles before reserve as some of the fastest bikes do... you should consider that as depending on how you ride it can be quite annoying.
