    Seattle?

Where the hell do we live again? I think I've worn my rain gear more often than not this year. Reminds me of the year I bought my bike.

On a lighter note, a whole lime cheesecake fits perfectly in my tank bag...

    Seattle?

Based on my last 2 business trips to Seattle & talking weekly to customers in Seattle...

They actually don't get any more rain then we do.. this spring is worse then Seattle.

And we don't get 20ft of snow dumped on ski areas 1 hour outside of Boston either.

There is that whole "danger of being buried alive by a lahar from Mt. Rainier" scene though. The whole Seattle/Tacoma region is built on an old lahar from Mount Rainier.

Drowning, burning alive, flooding, frozen to death in an ice storm, etc, etc, etc..

We just have a different set of options here!

True, that. Rainier is just so RIGHT THERE looming over the region though. Would scare the crap out me to pay for real estate so close to a volcano like that. Did you happen to take a trip to Mt. Saint Helens while your were there? Holy crap! There's an eye opener. I have never seen devastation like that. They said it was the equivalent of one Hiroshima sized bomb going off every second for 20 hours or some absurd amount of time like that. I believe it. St. Helens was substantially smaller than Rainier and much further from "civilization".

Rainier is 50 miles away and Mt. St. Helens is 100 miles away.

I'm sure the ash cloud would suck but I doubt the lava flow would get there.

It's not like living in say Hawaii!

I had never heard the word
A lahar is mud formed when the the ice and snow on the volcano suddenly melts during an eruption, not lava. I had never seen the word "lahar" until I ventured out in the countryside around Seattle and saw the warning signs about what to do in case of one. Seattle and Tacoma sit upon an old Rainier Lahar so it can surely cover the 50 miles. The city is apparently doomed.

True, but I had to ride all day in the 15" rainstorm, so it's like adding insult to injury.

I love streetriding though. When else are you going to try riding with a pie?

If you safety wire it properly, I can't see why tech would say anything about it... if you gave them a piece.

Just what would happen to say, a lime cheesecake in the event of a catastrophic volcano eruption? Especially in Seattle. Really makes ya wonder, doesn't it...

I wonder if the density of a lime cheesecake, in the event of a pyroclastic flow/lahar, would allow the cheesecake to safely float on the top of the debris, and allow it to be safely washed to the edge of the damage area?

It's a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce key lime pie could not sink in a one pound lahar.

Pete, we are talking density here, not weight!

Hopefully the cream cheese in the cake was thoroughly whipped, allowing it to float to safety. For those of you who enjoy cheesecake anyways.
