Sell or Transport to the West Coast?

I might be moving to San Diego due to a job change, and I have no idea what it would cost to transport my 2004 600rr. Given this bike's value, I don't know if it's worth shipping it versus selling it here and buying another bike once I get out there?

Riding it out there is not an option!!

Re: Sell or Transport to the West Coast?

The bike is only worth about $5K so if it's going to cost me $600 to ship, I would have thought it's not worth it. Then I looked at bike prices on Craigslist out there, and this bike would get about $6K out there (great shape, low miles) so I guess it is worth it.

It's my wife who looks like she's going to be getting an offer, I'm just tagging along!

yea, if you could get the same bike for $1000 less, then it might be worth selling. for the same price, i'd rather ship my own bike that i've maintained.

Great question - I don't know the answer to be honest. I'll have to find out. We may hang on to and rent our condo (downtown Boston) so I could always use that address and keep it registered here.

Yea. Just so you know, they don't want anyone bringing any more vehicles into Ca. and make you pay for it at the dmv. It cost me like $1000 once to register a car I brought from here. I don't know if it's the same with motorcycles. Worth checking out.

The CA DMV has an on-line calculator. Two cars plus a bike shouldn't be more than $500 to transfer registrations (both cars are old!!).

Re: Sell or Transport to the West Coast?

your best bet is to sell it and get a CA made bike.....becasue of all the restrictions there, they mightn ot let u register the bike in the state because it does not meet the EPA standards for cali.
