Not servicing Mass at this time.....Insurance BS

Well, it's just about that time to get the bike on the road so I started shopping around for motorcycle insurance quotes. I remember seeing some thread here or there about whom and what people were paying. So I started out with State Farm and got back that they do not actively market new business in Mass Oooookay.....next, Geico. Well, they currently do not offer insurance for Mass FINE, progressive then. Well, I get the same thing for them WTF!!! I thought some people here from Mass were using these companies?!

So now I'm stumped. I don't want to use my car insurance co. (Safety Ins.) cuz they grossly over charge for motorcycle coverage (1,200 for Ninja 250, yes that's right $1,200) and I moved up the bigger bike. So, what exactly does everyone else use (for those who live in Mass please) so I have an idea who to contact for a quote. Thanks. Sorry if this is beating a dead horse.

There's Lister Insurance, I think in Medford, that's usually very biker friendly. Don't know who the carrier is.

My bikes' insurance through safety isn't that horribly expensive compared to what it used to be.

Arbella charges me about $450 for the '03 SV1000s... but at 47, I'm halfway to dead.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the responses and I'm going to start looking into those and getting some quotes.

But before I do I have a question. They always ask "what's your bike value" or something along those lines. Now what exactly does that mean? Is the number I give them mean that if or when I get in an accident and total the bike that that's what my bike payout would be? Is that retail value? What I personally value my bike for? What I physically paid for it? KBB value?? WHAT!??!?!?!?!

    Thanks again.

you could move to Rhodie, GEICO for three bikes, less than $800 / year
if you take that number your paying for three bikes and add $11200. thats how much commerce wants for a year of coverage on an 09 r1 for me fml.

and before anyone asks no i did not add an extra zero by accident.

Ouch! In CT I'm paying $454 total for my Superhawk and my Shadow, full coverage. That's with Progressive.

The number on my insurance policy is the amount I told them I paid. When they did a check for a fallover incident with my nighthawk, they cut me a check for 900 and that was it. Bike was definitely worth less than that, but I had 1500 in the value spot, and the adjuster put damages at 1400.

I'd check with the agent and see what that number is supposed to be and mean.

Now I feel even worse that Safety Ins. raked me across the coals. Arbella did better last year with $275. Def gonna call Met Life along with the others.

Re: Not servicing Mass at this time.....Insurance BS

In dealing with accidents I have had the best service from MetLife.

Back when the insurance prices were all fixed somewhat, I got better pricing from Murphy Ins/Commerce(+AAA) and have used them since.

All my bike policies came down to reasonable levels once the SDIP charges went away, btw. Turning 21 helps and I think turning 25 helped too. Not getting tickets = still the biggest help.

The only downside with Commerce is they seem to goof up policy shit and it takes forever to get it back to normal. I've sat there with my agent when they add in the proper info and give me a sheet showing what is now what. A month later I get a 1/2 completed form from Commerce reflecting similar...wtf? All the same they are local so I keep them...

    yes
nope no tixs what so ever for anything
    none

I have the worse luck with insurance quotes the branch I use loves when I call asking for quotes. My insurance on my car for the first year i owned it(i was 18) was 5160 and some change. My insurance payment was 160 bucks more a month then my car payment.

    1 moving violation
    no accidents

    full coverage on the bike

$650 a year from arbella, and I haven't even got around to faxing them a copy of my msf completion card so $585 year for me...soon

When I lived in MA and had a bike I was early 20's with a serious issue going too fast, to say the least. My 87 Ninja 750 was ~60/month throught AAA. Considering my driving record I didn't think that was too bad.
