    Shade tree hyperbike Lament

This is the long ramblings of an old geezer so if you have a life move on.

A honda superhawk... we put on broom stick handle bars TT pipes and seperate foam air cleaners. Fancy tires and look for bonneviles to pass.

RD 350's Radial milled heads, Expansion chambers, car coils, filter and jets. Shocks, fork oil, metzlers.

KZ1000 gusseted frame, milled heads with cams, smoothbore carbs, cafe fairing, stepped seat, head bearings, 4 into 1. Lester wide wheels, 2nd flipped front disk brake...hog slayer

FJ1100 pipes, ignition, jets aircleaner, shocks, fork valves, clip ons
    kicked butt

Yzf 1000 airbox, risers, slip on kicked butt for 1 year

2005 Gsxr1000 anything you do will make it worse.

When we tinkered with cars I put a 4 barrel and manifold on my sport fury and then beat Joe. He did something and edged me out. I got wide rims and low profile dunlops took him back.... Mitch's Dad buys him a brand new 67 442 he cleans all our clocks. We find something else to do; I think I went skiing..

So Is this the Climax of the Gods...
Have we created the technology of our own doom where normal humans are not capable of dealing with the machines we ride.

    If so what next...

In the mean time I will have to be satisfied painting black road markers.......street tagging

The Japanese are very good at incorporating after-market parts.

You can still spend money, Ohlins suspension, replace al caliper pistons with ss, replace your brake lines with ss, cut some rotors, power commander, port and plish, paint it.

Don't dispair, we'll learn to ride faster...

Move the focus away from the mechanical and toward mastering riding skills-- track days or whatever.

Another way to spend your money is to travel. Nothing like a MAJOR road trip on a two-wheeler.

The same goes for bikes as it does for cars. The best performance improvement you can make is to tighten the nut behind the wheel.

Even a more "local" trip, such as the Blue Ridge Parkway or the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia.

How'd this go from DIY hop-ups to travel tips?

A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. - John Stuart Mill

Well maybe that is the correct way to view the perfected tool

    HEh Heh he said "tool"

Well there you go that is the generation gap

I did recently spend one day in VT only to return by 10:30 PM 565 miles.

Will be doing that again maybe early September so I can see the white cap on Killington.

Actually I try for 3 to 5 weekend trips a year and do recommend overnights to any metro rider .... who listens

But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.
