    Shindy steering dampers

Anyone ever try them? Good? Bad?

It's practically the only damper I can get for under $400.

Is it the "you get what you pay for" thing?

In general. Ducati doesn't really go for the bling effect.

What's wrong with stock when stock is Brembo, Marchesini, Ohlins.....

Hmmmm, you make a valid point. I had to pay big money to add those brand names to my bike...

Blade... I would imagine that GPR still makes one for your bike. They still make one for my '96 GSX-R750.

And if you knew someone, who was maybe a direct dealer for GPR, you could probably get one just under $400...

If I am not mistaken, Shindy is either the parent company of Nissin (brakes)and others or an exporter. Their products may be known by a different name.

GPR makes then for the 98 and up. They changed a lot from 97 to 98. Scotts still makes them and they're still over $400.

    Re: Shindy steering dampers

Ive found you get what you pay for. I have one in my room now. Its a cheap damper and it shows. It has a ton of stiction so its difficult to ride in a straight line at low speed. Ive also see the other side of cheap. There wasnt enough adjustment to make it move slow enough. Id say stick with ohlins, scotts which is ohlins or gpr. Those seem to be the best. Id stay away from the pitbull. As far as I know the damper itself is good but the mounting system sucks. Some bikes you have to drill and tap holes in the triple to mount where as the other 3 I have yet to see a bike that just didnt bolt up.

Since when does a base model 748 come with Marchesini or Ohlins?

    True dat.

I'm still going back & forth about trading the CBR in for something, but I don't feel like paying the increased insurance for a 1000cc bike and don't like the maintenance schedule of an 848.

    Re: Shindy steering dampers

If anything sell it private. Your blade is way to shinny to get screwed by a dealer. If insurance is a factor it shouldn't be any more for cc's over you 900, liter bikes are only 998cc

Also if your looking at a rr try to ride one first. They are nice and very easy to ride fast, but I didn't like the fit of the gas tank at all.

The 848 is nice to. But you would have to become a bigger asshole to own it.

A bigger asshole than I already am, eh? Well, that in itself makes the 848 much more appealing.

No can do, you have to remember 2 things:

    1) I'm just a little bigger than you are

    2) I ride 2 up, which means I need a little more beef in the engine. (that is, until we get her her own bike.)

DON'T trade it in! Take it from me. It's too old to be worth anything to a dealer, and... from what I hear, it's too clean to be just given away like that...

Here's a thought... Keep it. It doesn't cost anything to own, and it doesn't take up much space...

If you absolutely need the $2000 that it might bring, then you are not in a good position to be buying a brand new bike.

It's definitely worth more than $2K retail. Here;s what I got from Kelly's:

    1997 Honda CBR900RR w/Fairing Value

    June 15, 2008

    4-Cylinder
    4-Stroke
    900cc

    Suggested Retail Value: $4425

Not bad, considering I paid $4500 for it 2 years ago.

    Both reasons are junk.

Kates is a lot bigger then me and he rides my 600 just fine.

My R6 makes just as much if not more power then my rc51. I bet its the same for your bike. Once we get the R6 tuned Im hoping for close to 130hp but we will see.
