I am selling an R6 frame on ebay and was wondering what the best way is to pack it or ship it?

who's paying shipping? You or them? I would make a 'box' out of wood and staple cardboard over the sides.

We have a wood moulding shop down the road. Wood isn't a problem.

I'd probably wrap it in bubble wrap and then plastic wrap and slap shipping label on it.

I've heard of guys going a similar route. Wrap the frame in cardboard, then take it to FedEx and they'll shrink wrap it, done.

This should be fine. It doesn't need to be in a box.

Shipping cost is higher if they have to palletize it like that though.

I doubt the would have too put it on a pallet. How much does the frame alone weight?

Re: How to ship a frame?

If you ship it without a crate, take some good pics of it before you wrap it up....bubble wrap and shrink wrap can conceal damage caused by the carrier. If the buyer unwraps it and finds a bolt tab bent or cracked or bearing journal nicked up from it getting dropped, the consignor (shipper) is the one who must file a claim with the carrier....and all the buyer is probably gonna want to do is return it to you for a refund. Also, if you don't declare a value for it, a carrier like UPS or FedEx is only liable up to $100.

back in the day I bought a cbr600 frame. The guy just stuck the sticker right to the frame and that was it. Naked frame arrives to me. It gets pretty pummeled tho.

Check into Grayhound shipping too, anywhere their busses run you can ship. If you can squeeze in under the max weight/dimension limits it may be a nice option.

You might check with Seacoast. They often have the kit the bikes come in...pretty cool stuff...and would probably let you have it for free.

    (Probably overkill though...!)
