    shipping a bike?

Who do/did you use? I'm buying a bike from a dealer and need to have it shipped. The dealer recommended Haulbikes. I checked their reviews and the majority of the ones I read were pretty shitty.

I used these guys for a Louisiana to Rhode Island transport. Great communication and great price, but I don't think they go any further west than Texas...

I have asked this question myself. I have received a very glowing endorsement for STI (Specialized Transportation, Inc.). The website I have for them is parked with godaddy. Not sure what that means.

I have used haul bikes several times. The nice thing about them is you don't have to crate the bike for shipping, and all they do is ship bikes so they know how to handle them. They may not be the cheapest but they did a great job.

So, are you going to tell us what kind of bike you bought or is it a secret?

Sorry, I have contributed nothing to your thread.

that can be very hit or miss. There was another forum I was on that does some private track days every year that were organized by one of the members. He had doctors orders to never ride again so we all collectively bought back the last race bike he ever built. It was to be shipped from CA to MI. it had almost 2 months to get there before the event. one of the other members took possession of it from the shipper 2 or 3 days before the event in TX. that was a nightmare.

you could also get someone good. really depends on the shipper because that site is all independent shipper not just one company.

    +1

I used them last year. I was pretty happy with them. Basically you post up what you want shipped and you get a bunch of quotes from companies. There's reviews of the companies and everything. It's kind of like eBay for shipping. Definitely cheaper than some of the major companies I contacted.

That's what my buddy was just saying to me an hour ago. No thanks. I am going to call those guys Manny used tomorrow and see when they can get the bike here.

Yes it is, but I get the impression the people featured on the show enter in some sort of private or prearranged bidding. They are always in bidding wars directly with each other, and they never mention other competition.

    Re: shipping a bike?

Yeah I think you're right. I'm sure the shippers do a good job. It's only a motorcycle there'd be shipping, seems like a pretty straight forward shipment to me. As long as they're cautious with tie down points I think you'd be fine with them. Watch them load it up and tie it down and I'm sure the outcome would be fine.

    Re: shipping a bike?

UShip.com has a rating system, my guy Rory (from More & More Moto-Transport) was very serious about it. totally professional and a long time motorcyclist. kept me updated through phone and email the entire process. paid $375 total. $50 down, balance due upon successful delivery.

    Re: shipping a bike?

I can highly recommend quik-shots motorcycle shipping. Basically one guy named Burly (is there a better name for a motorcycle shipper?!), a big truck and a big trailer. He did a great job and was very quick - although I think the timing is more related to where he is in his route when you contact him. But, the bike was tied down very well and all he transports is motorcycles.
    Good luck!

I used D&K Transportation (http://snowmobilebarn.com/d-k-service/) to ship a couple of bikes from Ohio last fall. Very satisfied. They were recommended by a friend.

I ended up going with these guys. Their quote was in line with the rest of the ones I got, and their reviews were good. The bike should be picked up next week, and show up here in a week or two after that. Price was $720 for AL to MA.

    Good choice.

Just so you know my deliveries on both ends were almost 5 days ahead of schedule!
