Where is a good site to look for wrecked/salvaged bikes in the area?

I'm currently trying to sell my 04 R1, and I'm toying with the idea of getting a wrecked/salvaged 600 SS and turning it into a track bike. Are there any good salvage/wreck sites in the area? What would be the easiest way to find a wrecked bike besides scouring the individual bike forums looking for local wreck threads?

Check out Home Page for Hobbs Automotive

Ryan (screen name pasta-rocket) is also one of our local racers. I'm pretty sure he has salvaged 600's already prepped for the track

You can also check out the WERA boards. They always have nice race bikes depending on what you're looking for and how much you want to spend

Take your idea and throw it out the window. You'll pay twice as much picking up something salvage, then fixing it and outfitting it for the track. Trust me I've done it and I didn't take the advice when it was given to me. Best bet is to buy something ready for the track, a used older racebike is the best bet. If you don't plan on racing it can be a good clip older. If you plan on racing get something more modern or buy new from the dealership. Or ignore me and learn the hard way.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

Degsy still has a nice f4i, titled, frame and engine if you really want a project bike.

The end of the season is coming up, there will be a lot of track bikes all prepped up and for sale.

Remember, these racers have maxed out their credit cards and need to bring the balances back down ...

    It is a BUYERS market.

Argo's prices are crazy, I can't believe they sell so many bikes.
Like the other guys have said, buy something already done up.
By the time you buy a wreck (not cheap these days) shock, pipe, bodywork, brake lines, case covers, gearing etc etc.......
Just cheaper to buy one that someone has already done the work.

yea i'm in the process of building my race bike now...its coming along but its a shit load of $$$

if you're just gunna do track days, buy one already built thats a little older like they said. but there is something to be said about building it yourself....if you dont mind the money, it is gratifying

argo is good, their asking prices are normally not what the bikes sell for....they can be pretty good about knocking off money.

i'd talk to hobbs first though, hes the man
