    does size matter?

I love to see this stuff in print, because most of the people i ride with have big liter bikes and i have a 600 gxer. with all the slack I get its nice to stick it to them, and I quote( the GSXR600's power disadvantage compaired to the 750 and zx10r and yes , any long straights will have you wishing for more sream. but once the next twisty sections are encountered , much of that ground is made up, evidenced by the 600's 1:24.82 lap time, only 0.13 sec. slower than the next quickest contestant.
And that runner-up in the test was the zx10 with a lap time of 1:24.69.

    zx10r lap time 1:24.69
    GSX-r600 lap time 1:24.82

    Wouldn't it be .13 * 20 = 2.6 seconds?

Or is it some sort of exponential. I don't get your fancy "racer math"

FWIW - and it's not a dig on anybody - I would personally NEVER own a 600 for the street. Not saying they're a bad choice or that there's anything wrong with 'em. I just prefer the big displacement for street use, is all...

Depending what I'm riding I'm sure I could deal with a good 6 on the street. I love what I got and the only time I really open it up is on the slab. My friend out in cali has a buddy on a stock ninja 250, says there isn't a person in SJ that can come close to keeping up with him on the twisties.

I'm not arguing pro's & con's. It's just my preference. If we lived somewhere that we could ride the tight twisty stuff day in, day out, I'd be all over the 6's. But given today's liter bike's weights, I see the power as nothing but an advantage...

    Compario

It a compromise I guess, but nothing beats go power like cc's.
I sat on a F4i (comparing cbr vs. cbr) and it felt 3/4 scale to the Blackbird 1100cc which is a large bike.
I could see the tossability advantage of the F4i. Nimble too.......
I'm tall, so Highsider was right about getting a larger frame to stretch out on.
On the track its all about technique and line, but realistically, faster machines can quickly reverse/make up (on the straights) the cornering advantage of a smaller bike. IMHO

600's just aint got the leggs for slabbing like a litre bike or maybe a little extra power for two-up or luggage would be better also...

I like a liter bike for the streets because I like the torque and I ride 2 up a lot..

    Liter bike for the street.

If I get real serious about track days mabey a R6 for the track that both Double"D" and myself would use. She would be red group and I'll go yellow. Jump off at the pit entrace and away she goes. Tires won't last to long though, rack up double the milage real quick.
