Yeh through out my long 4 decades of biking and skiing I have been somewhat amused that I am always greeted by total disconnect by either skier or biker that they should make an effort to try the other sport.

Even dirt bikers or motocrossers where I believe it is near the same activity can't seem to wrap their brains around it.

It is usually easier to find skiers to go with then fast bikers and of course the biker entry fee is a few thousand vs a 100 bucks to try skiing

Even the posers will like it you can spend thousands on equipment and weather proof spandex and parade at the bar

Also though the odds suck almost all good women skiers are a very valuable distillate of the masses

As a bicyclist who has no issue wearing spandex..

I can't understand why anyonewould wear spandex for skiing...

Don't you a) Freeze your ass off b) Get wet if you fall ???

I get it for racers looking for aerodynamics but no one else needs it.

I grew up skiing in NH. I got out of it from 18-29, and got back into it last year at 30.

I used to do bump skiing at Loon and was always on a set of slalom skis.

Since I am now old I bought my 1st set of GS boards. They are like the GSXR-1300 of skis...very fast, very stable! They have a good snap to them and its not too much work to get them to carve tight turns, but admittely they're a bit heavy for the snowpark.

It's amazing how much the technology changed over the time from when I left to when I came back. If I can scoff up a deal I may buy some wet noodles for the bumps & crud to compliment the GS11s.

While I am rambling...one other new thing that I realize now is how there are a lot more retards on the ski slopes. I was in the snow park snow park at Loon & saw dozens of people who could pull a heli, cut rails, etc. but couldn't carve a turn. It was pretty odd to watch because they were awesome at tricks but otherwise couldn't ski.

My brother & I were watching this guy who kept trying to pull these insane helis on skis about 2' long, and he would keep crashing Steve-O style.

We were quietly giggling because it was funny, and the stunna skis over to me. He was a pimply-faced 16 year old and started asking me if I "have an !@#$ing problem and if I want to go". I played the old person card and was like excuse me son, I can't hear you, can you speak up. He got all disgruntled and left. What ever happened to the chineese downhill for a thrill? Kids these days

I am going to try and ski outside of Loon this year and try some GS club racing. You can only ski upper flume about 35 times a day before it gets a little old.

man.. i've been skiing since i was about 8 & i'm now just a few weeks shy of 25 (Dec 9th... get me a present ) i just don't get out to the slopes that often though... only bout 2-5 times a year.

i got some kickass K2 Enemy skiis a couple years back... shaped twin tip ski... great all around ski... at home in the powder or the parks. just wish i could actually pull some cool shit off the big hits and i can't do rails for the life of me... can't even get the balls to do a 360 or even touch a rail. It's always "next time" it's all good though, cuz i still love to carve

favorite mountain at the moment has gotta be Sunday River
