But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

If the tire needs to be reseated just take it to a gas station that mounts tires and ask the guy to throw some air in it to reseat it. The shop needing 5 days to look at it and $35 is a waste of your time and money. If the gas station can't fix it then take it to the mc shop.

    my 2 cents

hmm... well I'm pretty sure there's still dirt & crap in between the tire & the rim... i inflated it up to like 40 ft/lbs on Sunday & the next morning it was dead.

and he just said "couple days at MOST depending on when you bring it down & when we can get to it"

    suggestions?

think i can just break the seal myself, clean up the crap & re-inflate it? or do you put some sorta crap allong the edge of the tire to help make a seal?

    DING!!!!!!

You already answered your own question. Then all you need to do is have it balanced. There are quite a few of our members with tire balancers who would probably help, if you ask nice.

However, if you're anywhere close to Nashua. Call RJs and Roger will take care of it for you, quick-time!

just tire goop...and that is more for putting in on then holding air..from what i understand ...if you can break the bead and clean it..bring it to any tire shop and they should have some..

thanks for helpin the tire installation newbie

So it looks like i can find a couple of 2x4's, lay a rag on em & put the rim on it, jump up & down on the tire, break the bead, clean it out, bring it a couple blocks over to the Sunoco & fill er up?

    sound like a plan?

if jumping doesn't work drive one tire of a car onto the 2x4.

make sure you get all the the dirt out, you don't want it rolling around inside your tire.

Before jumping on it make sure you take the rotors off!! You do not want to bend them. By the way, instead on jumping, try to position the 2x4 where you can put pressure on the tire. PM rmbbikes. He will tell you how to do it.

heh, on don't worry... i took care of the rotors. instead of placing on the ground i put the edge of the wheel on two boards so the rotor was suspended above the ground...

now... to the things i've learned today....

    1. a 145lb person can not break the bead of a motorcycle tire by jumping up & down on it, even standing on something to create a smaller point of pressure than a foot can...

    2. the bead of a tire isn't easy to break, even w/ a fucking c-clamp.

    3. it takes a long fuckin time to pump up a motorcycle tire to 45psi or so w/ a friggin bicycle pump

    4. i have no idea what i'm doing, but i got some dirt out from between the tire & the rim, pumped it back up & we'll see if she holds

there's really not alot of dirt wedged in there, and i can't see a puncture anywhere.... maybe the valve stem?

earlier this morning, before i used the C-clamp, i laid the rim flat & poured water so it gathered all the way around right on the seam between the rim & rubber... no bubbles, either side

EDIT: we have bubble.... talk about a SLLOOWW leak... i'm gonna check the other side cuz i'd SWEAR it's leakin out faster than that.

pete, i can show you how to make a bead breaker out of a 2x4 so you dont have to jump up and down on it, and you should have let me know, i can balance your wheels and I have an air compressor (losts easier than a bike hand pump) im right here in peabody....

still have a leak i see...might have a burr or something on the rim.....might have to go over the bead part of the rim with some fine sandpapper to clean it up....just let me know if you need a hand...

These guys hooked me up when I needed a front tire swap ASAP, did it the same day for like 25 bucks. Give them a call, it's a private shop, much better than supporting the stealer.

Oh and for authenticity one guy there has a false leg from some kind of motorcycle incident.

Just don't leave your car running outside the shop.

Give em a call first and let em know what the deal is. They are ussually pretty busy.

saturday should be fine...got the garage so rain not a problem, just bring the wheel and the axle and well be all set......hopefully theres not a small crack or a slice in the tire that you cant see, but ill be able to see exactly whats wrong and well go from there....

I did Sam,s carbs from the other forum and he was pleased with the results ,for me its fun working on bikes now that i dont have mine anymore....but pm me and well set up a time..usually around 11:00 is a good time but im up early so anytime in the morning is good for me...

Friday night is another possibility if your around...this way you can see if it holds air overnight and still make the track saturday if it doesnt rain...just another thought
