Do you have electricity in your garage?
In a small low ceiling garage, sometimes high intensity worklights can produce enuf heat
My barn is kinda big and unfinished, I have a "mobile home" furnace that I plan on hookin up in the future, first I need a concrete floor and real doors for now, all doors are tarps, cause I'm well ventilated I can get away with a forced kerosene heater, I have a 150k btu Salamander
If a forced kerosene heater makes your eyes burn, then the heater needs a tune up, I do mine once every year, almost any hardware store will have a universal kit, you may have to use a pair of sissors and reshape the air filter, new igniter, nozzle and other spare parts will come in a kit for about $20
before my barn when I had a shed, a couple of worklights and or a colman lantern provided all the heat I needed

You can "tune up" a salamander?
Mine is pretty bad. This is something i need to look into.
I think I can run other fuels in mine, would that help?

what about something like this. no venting required.
DESA Reddy Heater -

Just go to home depot or lowe's and and buy a fan-forced wall heater. They have two sizes depending on your square footage and how much electricity you have. The larger one runs off a 240 line, that's the one I bought, its like 180 bucks. The smaller one is like 85 bucks, runs off a normal 120 line.

I didn't think of it last night in my post but you could also use a directvent wall mount propane heater, they work pretty well I have 4 cabins that I rent out and that is what heats them, no electric nesssary.

You can run them on a 100lb cyl for about 7-10 days at 68 degress24 hrs a day so depending how much time you spent in the garage, and what temp you kept it at would determine fuel usage.I have had the cabins empty without tenants and keep the thermostat at 50 in jan and only use about a tank and a half.I heat my garage at 50 all winter with a mobile home furnace with about 1 tank of oil which is high now but it is only 250 gals And I just turn it up when I'm doing any thing in the shop 50 the rest of the time , no rust no condinsation, nice warm motorcycles
here's what i got.
