I actually can point you towards a bunch. Pretty much all the wannabe hot shot squids riding tuono v4's are bitching about the fuel economy and range. Then again, I think most of them live in their parent's basements and can't afford anything but ramen noodles while they pay off the bike so...

When did Triumph start making the Street Triple R's? I think that those would be 2010 and over, correct me if I am wrong.
I can find a bucket load of Street's big brother Speedy, but the Street + R (Used) is very rarely spotted on sale (may be its a testament to the bike), and the ones that are available are priced almost the same as the Speedy of the same year.

On that particular stop for gas I was on the Explorer and it ran ok I think. I didn't need gas but on DucDave rides we fuel up because if you don't then later when you need gas and we don't it'll be a pain in the ass to stop the train for one rider... Plus when you ride like an " old lady" hahaha the fuel lasts longer.
Haha yeah you guys/gals have to stop before my 90 mile range runs out.
I have a 2011 Street Triple R and the low fuel light comes on at 120, fwiw.
If I only could have 1 bike, between a Street and a Speed, I would probably take a Speed. If only to eat some miles getting out of dodge. In my case, I have another bike for that. So the Street makes a perfect commuter hooligan for me.
no bikes currently
Yes, that was the day you attempted to mow down the WMNF with the Ex.
I'll let you claim that I'm a pussy and not willing to do triple digits the entire way up the Kanc. ('Cause I am. Paranoid about that whole arrest thing.) But I won't let you claim I don't wring the bike out on a regular basis.
And FWIW, that was the fuel stop where you told me I just had to fill up as we were going all the way over to Lincoln... we were in Conway. That's what, 35 miles... And TLRMan took on fuel at both stops!!!
How does the Speed Triple(2006 through 2008) compare to the FZ6 in handling?
No comparison... the Speed handles much better. I had an FZ6 and it's suspension was the biggest downfall of that bike. If you did the R6 front fork and brake conversion, it makes the FZ6 a much better bike. Even so, the FZ6 steers very heavy in comparison to the Street or the Speed and has much more relaxed ergo's. With either Triumph, you think to turn and it's already doing it.
I'm not sure I'd be comparing the FZ6 to a Speed Triple though. It's more like FZ6:Street Triple :: FZ1:Speed Triple
I went over to the dealers to check out the Speed and Street 3's.
Man I have to say I loved the feel of the Street, it feels light, the size felt right, the seat height is about 32.1 inches which is alright for some one my height 5'8". The bike looked great. Too bad they weren't allowing demos especially since it was raining out.
The 2012 Speed felt a bit bulky, couldn't flat foot this fella, I did learn from the dealer that the 2012 is higher(32.5) than earlier models (32.1).The seat felt a bit wider and not as comfortable as the Street.
But other than that both the bikes felt pretty good.
While watching motorcycle porn on CL, I saw a tonne of Speedy's but a decent Street for around 6k wasn't to be found.
There is one Speed 3 that I have come across. It is a 2006 model with about 9k miles, aftermarket exhaust and some other mods price at around 5k.
Given my budget of 6k I am conflicted. After the FZ6 the Street seems to be the logical choice but since there aren't any available in the market as of now, would I be better off waiting till Spring OR do you think the Speed at the price of around 5k is a good deal and I should get go for it?
My paramount concern is moving up to a liter bike, I have 2 years of riding experience. 1st year on the ex500 and now the FZ6. I consider myself a rather moderate to safe rider. Most of my riding is a fun commute to work and a few excursions every now and then. Would I be in over my head getting a big bike like this one?
I guess what I am trying to frame is , how radical of a jump would it be for an adolescent rider from a FZ6 to a Speed 3.
Everyone has to try owning a liter bike at least once. Some of us get it out of our systems and go back to smaller, cheaper metal. Others find they prefer it.
Are you 'ready'?! Got me. That's your call, not mine.

FWIW: I went from a 30-something HP, 20 year old CB400 to a brand new ~100 HP Bandit 1200 one afternoon when I was in my early 20's. I lived.
I have always been a pretty conservative rider.
Although I will say that highway on-ramps suddenly got one helluva lot more fun and front wheels got a lot lighter.
