OK, who else thinks this story sounds a little fishy? I mean, "These bikes forced me to crash and then came back to taunt me!" does sound a lot better than, "I was chasing a speeder and lost control of my car."

Who on earth would return to the police car to taunt the guy? I'd expect to die in a hail of gunfire if I tried that. Too bad he didn't have a dash cam to document this amazing story.

It sucks that we only get 1 side of the story , and its the reporters interpritation of a police report.
    I wonder what really happened.

I find it hard to believe anyone pulled over and clapped about a hurt cop. Anyway its a sad story and just one more thing to make us all look bad.

someone else gotta pay i guess.

is it this law here in MA too?

"According to the state law, a person can be charged with the misdemeanor if he or she was present when a crime was committed, or knew that a person was injured, and failed to call for help."

True. However the State Patrol spokesperson made the comment saying that sport-bike riders and cafe-bike riders were typically the delinquent motorcycle operators. Whilst stating that Harley riders were the safe riders.

While what the motorcyclists did to that trooper was horrific. It does not warrant a blanket statement offered by two state police spokespersons.

The quote from the police actually dances around something: "Typically, our Harleys don't cause any trouble. They're riding around trying to be safe," Martin said.

Speed is only one part of the equation. I'd bet that Harley riders have more incidents overall. Sport bike riders tend to have much higher speeds and crash in more spectacular fashions.

Personally, I'd take delinquent over dangerous any day of the week; all a matter of perspective.

Alcohol is another. And I think we know who takes that category down.

The good female cops are probably not out there wondering how a prejudiced Oregon police spokeswoman can make her whole profession look bad in the eyes of many safe motorcyclists. The hypocrisy is staggering.

As to the story, it sounds odd to say the least.

As to your vehicles, too funny I ride a 650R and well, let's just say I've had a few BMWs, including a white E30 a while back. I might buy another E30 this fall but honestly I'm thinking Jetta GLS. This one had an open exhaust on it, they loved my opposite-lock morning entry at the corporate worksite down in the ATL:

Re: Making sport bikes look bad......

That article lost all credibility after this

"In contrast, according to Martin, riders of Harley-Davidson motorcycles generally cause fewer concerns for law enforcement on the roads. "Typically, our Harleys don't cause any trouble. They're riding around trying to be safe," Martin said."

This biased style of reporting makes me believe that the author himself rides a cruiser style bike.

Type of bike doesn't matter. It's all about who's on it. These people do piss me off though. Public roads and highways are not the place for this kind of stuff. Go buy a plot of land to screw off with all your friends.

EX's, a Vulcan, and a KLX pitbike. Honestly, I'm not Kawi loyal. Planning on a DR soonish and an SV eventually someday.
