the M1's i had.. are dry rotting..
Reccomendations for long lasting decent grip sport touring tires..like the diablo strada etc.
anyone?
area to buy from would be great as well..
hmmmm......
I had Pilot roads on my yzf1000R and they seemed fine for everything. Only put like 1000 before selling so can't speak to life.

Really pleased with Continental Road Attacks. I buy them at www.swmototires.com
I'm on my second set.
Yeah, Pilot Road is what I was going to recommend.
If your riding is a bit more sport than tour, The Pilot Power is good. However I get about 7K Miles out of a set of Pilot Power tires. So even the Power is pretty durable and it has a LOT of grip and even in lower tempuratures it grips real good.

Pretty impressive mileage IMO.Originally posted by LiononaLeash

I might try the Pilot Roads. I got nearly 10k out of BT-020s before my current tires, so I'd be tempted to get them again.
I've heard good things about the Metzeler Z6 too.
I kind of want to try something new.. never tried the Metzelers or the Pilot Roads.
i dotn know about the bt-020's.... the front seems like it might be prone to cupping.feathering with that tread design.
these tires ihope to get will be for commuting and weekdn sport tours no knee dragging.
hmmmm......
Mine were definitely fine.
Cupping has more causes then just the tire.. I'd look into it more.. what bike do you have.. has it had a cupping problem before, etc.. ?
Cupping IMO sounds like it generally has a lot more to do with poor maintenance of tire pressures & riding habits then it does with a specific bike/tire combo.
I've used the Avons ST45/46, the Metzler Z6s, BT020s, BT010s BT014s, D207s, Road Attacks and Pilot Roads. I like the Pilots and Road Attacks the best. the pilots last a little longer but I prefer the feel of the road attacks and they are (were?) substantially cheaper to buy.
+1 for the Pilot Roads - I'm going on my third set on a CBR-600. I'm getting about 7 to 8k out of a set. Good commuting and fun sport riding tire - I wouldn't recomend it for track days or sustained agressive riding.

I've had my Avon Azaro STs now for over 3500 miles and they are wearing AWESOME. I am...how do you say..."big boned"and they are showing great wear with VERY LITTLE flat spot. They grip well in the turns for me too. I just had this conversation with someone on Sat at the Route 17 ride. I would recommend these tires to anyone. Also got em for 223 shipped from SouthWest Moto.

This is good to hear, since I'm also in the "big boned" category.Originally posted by Nikon

but you look so small in your avatar???
hmmmm......
I would go with whatever comes on the 600rr 05 stock. They were bridgestones and maybe a bt020??? No tsure as I have discarded them already.
But those tire were the balls. Handled mint. Got 8k out of em with a numerous runs through the dragon in and around that area.

OOPS. I was logged in as my wife on the last post.![]()
But she also has the 020 on her new ninja 650.. She likes it. I have taken it for a few rides ant eh tires do well on that bike too.
If I have my info correct they are a dual compound tire, hard up the middle and softer on the sides for grip.
Plus as I said in the other post, they are cheap enough, under $200 for a pair.

I have 020s on my VFR, and I haven't had any issues with them yet. For a sport touring tire, they definitely get the job done, and then some. I've done multiple track days, and I've still racked up ~5k on them, with a decent bunch of tread still left on them. I weigh ~160, but the bike weighs ~520 wet.
I'll probably try something a little more aggressive next time just for kicks, but I wouldn't hesitate to put another set on the bike.

I had Pilot Sports until just now. I got the Road Attacks and from what I hear they are AWSOME. I cant wait to get them on!

I'm going to second the recommendation on these babies as these are what I'm curently using. They've been great in both wet and dry and their durability is good so far as well. I will be buying these Avon Azaros again when these finally need replacing.Originally posted by 97BladeRider
I've done a lot of searching on sport touring tires and I'm going with the Avon Azaro AV45/AV46.
Plenty of grip and long wear (10K-13K).
see ya,

The Azaro STs you reference AV45/AV46 are obsolete and have been replaced with the Avon Storm
any AV45/AV46s are now old stock, decent tire, I used to run them on my SV I got on average 10k-13k from the rear and as much as 19k-20k up front
unless the STs are at a substantial discount, I'd go with the new Storms
