    Higher sportbike seat

I've been tossing around ideas for a more comfortable ride for track days. I'm tall so on my current bike i feel like my knees are in my chin. It's not unbearable but it's certainly on my mind when I'm on the track. I want to keep the rear sets for cornering clearance. Raising my seat height seems like a cheap easy fix but I'm unsure if it's recommended. Will it throw off the balance of the bike? Does anyone know a local (I'm in Southern, Ma) shop that would do something like that? Thanks!

I made a set of seat risers for my SV. They work great. I'm going to be making a couple more sets this winter. If you ride a gen 2 SV I could hook you up.

The risers raise the seat about an inch. That really helped my knees.

I Have a gsxr600. By I never thought about spacing the seat. Just adding material. I will look at that as an option.

I'm looking to do the same thing with my CBR600. I already raised the handlebars.

Unfortunately, Renee and I share the bike and she barely touches now.

I've been thinking about doing the same thing to my 95 zx6r cause my knees kill after a longer ride. Just not sure how to go about it. How do you build a seat riser and still get it to latch?

    Re: Higher sportbike seat

I would have to get crafty with a latch seat.
The SV has a bolt on seat. So that was easy as pie.

What Tony needs is a 2 position quick adjust kit.

    Like this?

Just about any automotive upholstery shop can build up a saddle.

Some bikes have optional saddles that are taller. The SV650 has a gel touring seat that is taller than the one I had made.

That looks perfect. I'm thinking about 1"-1.5". Thanks for the info!!

couldn't you get adjustable rearsets to shift them up and back giving you more leg clearance and keeping your cornering clearance?

    Re: Higher sportbike seat

The rear sets on it now are up and back. I think that's what's causing the uncomfort. I'm too big to really be comfortable on a supersport but I think I can offset it a little with a higher seat. I'm still tossing around the idea of another bike as well.

    Re: Higher sportbike seat

I have the same issue on the Hawk. I like to feel like I am riding in the bike and not on it but I had to raise the seat to give my knees some help.

I think I am going to raise it some more too. (More seat foam)
