    SS screw kit

Put a cool stainless steel screw kit on my 9R recently. Got it from www.murphskits.com

Murph sells them for $25 including shipping and the service and quality are excellent. The kit replaces all the visible non-stressed fasteners with mostly button head allen screws and neoprene backed washers. The neoprene protects the paint, captures the washer to the screw and keeps the screws from coming loose. Nice stuff and cheap.

The website is rather incomplete so if you want a kit for your bike and it's not listed, give him a call. Worst case scenario is that you can help him design the kit and get it for free.

In the photo you can see the screws holding the windsheild in place and you can barely see the ss acorn nuts for the mirrors

It's probably too big. (common problem...hear it all the time )

It has to be 600x600 pixels max and 104857 bytes in size max.

dunno how the glitter happened. But you get the idea that the kit is quite complete from that photo.

young punk... betcha you've been making excuses like that since your *dog* ate your *homework*

seriously, looks sweet... I've been thinking of replacing my fairly beat up fairing screws w/ a new set, tho I've been looking @ the color-matched ones from some place in the UK.

come to think of it, they're prolly anodized... which means aluminum... stainless is startin' to look a whole lot better...

PS been starting to think about a 9R as my next ride... how long you had yours, waddaya think about 'er?

My wife bought it new (leftover) for my birthday last year and I have had it 13 months. It'll turn over 13,000 miles today on the way home from work. I really like it and would replace it with another if I lost it. It is quite comfortable, feels lighter than the published weight would lead you to believe, handles nicely and goes like hell. It has had no problems at all and has never been back to the dealer. I can't think of a single thing I don't like about it.

I know the other liter class bikes are quicker and better handling etc. but none have the comfort and the performance differences are pretty minor. I also like the simple look of it compared to bikes with all the stripes and graphics. The performance differences are minimal from 1998 to 2003 so if you don't want top spend a lot, get an older one.

I recently contacted the Murph man about getting a kit for my ZX9R. The price seems right. He's gonna work on putting a kit together for me and asked me to pass the word about his kits. I'll report back once I get it and let you know my thoughts...

I'd be much more interested in a way to get the stock bits for way less than normal prices since it's inevitable to lose or break stuff.

Mine has neoprene/plastic/whatever on the inside of the fairing rather than the outside. It seems to wear out after a few remove/replace cycles of the fairing. I bought a whole bunch of spares but the price was pretty obnoxious.

Anyone know where I can Ti bolt kit for my race bike. They tend to only be used in the aircraft industry (subtle hint to GORDON!!!)

Although those pesky flying machine manufacturers like to use the old fashioned standard sizes instead of metric.

I would look for Ti bolts in the bicycle industry.

You might have trouble finding the larger sizes as there aren't many large bolts on a bike, but Ti bolt kits are definitely not hard to find. They are metric of course.

You want to hear silly, I have Ti brake calipers on my mountain bike. They cost 1/2 what the bike cost when it was new. But they work and seem to be really resistant to corrosion.

In steel yes, in aluminium, yes. In Ti, no. You are looking at huge money for the Ti pieces which is why I would only look for Ti in rotating mass parts like sprocket nuts, rotor bolts etc.

If anyone wants to buy me a set of Ti rods I will paint the bike any color you want, put your name on it in neon lights and cook sunday dinner for you all year, babysit any time you like and wash your car every week.
