    What stands do you recommend?

I use my brothers pitbull rear stand once and awhile, but i wanted to get a set. I like the pitbull but they are kind of pricey.

    Anything comparable that is cheaper?

    Thanks

A bunch of guys on the YZF600 forum swear by the Handy Stands...

stay away from the handy stands....they are "ok" but you'll want to spend a couple extra bucks on a good set... they are not the stable, if you are not careful the bike can slide on the non-spooled rear stand and there have been reports of the frt handy stand bending forks...but i cannot confirm this..

pit bulls are great...some say they are hard to use...i dont have that much experience with them..

Talk Mr. Peter in the suspension corner and he'll hook you up with an excellent set of Woodcraft stands....IMO same quality as pit bulls... some say these are easier to use then the pit bulls...but i cant say for sure...

I have a set of handy's, wood craft and a set that has a suzuki sticker on it...the woodcrafts are by far the best....

also, if you get a frt stand but one that lifts teh bike from the stem and not the bottom of the forks...this will make maintence much easier...but also easier to scratch your frt fender

pitbull or woodcraft. I have used LP, but I don't like them at all, and handy stands are junk.

    What stands do you recommend?

This question comes up every few months... I know... I asked it before too

Currently, I have a set of Pit Bulls... they're great... sturdy and stable.

I have the old style front stand too and it's not easy to use. It definitely takes a good amount of muscling to get the front end off the ground. Of course, the front end of my bike weighs about as much as an entire new 600cc bike

As for other less expensive options.

I had a set of Heindl Stands and they were great... the only reason I got rid of them was because I wanted a stand that lifted from the steering stem.

I sold them to Nazo... so you can ask him what he thinks of them.

Personally, I thought they were just as sturdy as the Pit Bulls.

Basically, the answer you'll get here is that Pit Bulls are the number 1 choice.

I picked up a Harris spooled rear stand last year - works great, very rugged, $100 delivered. And it's stainless.

Workload for sale. Job sale possibility. Caretaker needed for housework and entertaining kids. I need some time back.

A steady job and a family has ruined many a good biker.

Woodcraft's are the bizzles' knizzle, f'shizzle.

You going spooled rear or pad? Having had both, I vastly prefer spooled rear. So much easier to get on, and more stable once the bike's on the stand.

it doesnt matter what you plan to do with the bike on the stand...it's having the bike on a stand that you should be concerned about...

you are putting your several thousand dollar investment up in the air...and you do not want it coming down until you are ready...

if you have a cheap shitty bike you dpnt care about...buy cheap shitty stands....if you have a bike that you like and want to keep for awhile..get the good stands..

but even if you do have a bike you dont care much about....someday you will and if you invest in good stands now...you won't have to inthe future....it's a pay me now or pay me later kinda thing...

Definitely pay the little extra and get a set of Pit Bull stands.

I had a PB rear stand which I loved. When I bought my current Superhawk, the seller included a Lockhart Phillips rear stand....so I converted my PB to a front stand. The LP stand is complete crap compared to the PB stand.... I'm anxiously awaiting someone to sell their PB rear stand so I can replace my LP rear. I hate it that much. Just trust me and spend the extra for the PB.

I must say, though, that I have zero experience with Woodcraft stands. Alot of people here are big supporters, so they must be pretty descent. Just stay away from LP stands and Handy stands. You get what you pay for....

Woodcraft. I use the easy up front constantly. Its so easy, my 4 yr old can do it and there's more room for front wheel maintenance than the pitbulls. BTW, I GAVE away my old-style pitbull front stem stand. I hated it that much .

Woodcraft all the way. Quality is as good as anything and it requires much less effort to lift the bike than the pitbulls. They lift the husky 12R with minimal effort.
