    They Stole My Bike

Sometime between the hours of 2300 and 0800 in wednesday, 4 Jun '03 some shit head removed my 2001 red black and silver GSXR 750 from it's parking space outside my building. I want his balls in a jar. Also taken was a 2002 blue R-6 from a complex just around the way. If any of you see a red- windshielded GSXR with a scuffed left fairing driving around go Vice City on it and bring me the wreckage (person, not bike) for cash reward. To make it up to myself I bought a KLX400rs and pick it up monday. Nice dirt bike, I want my gixer back. Insurance won't cover the loss all the way, and can't replace the hours that I spent working on her over the last month to make her the bike I wanted her to be. I"M SO PISSED!!!!!

That sucks dude, I'll keep a lookout around Southern NH. What did you mean when you said insurance won't cover the loss all the way? The deductible? Or did they find some other way to weasel out of paying full price?

Did you decide to keep the bike or something? Thought you were trying to sell it...

They are taking out the deductable, of course, and will only pay average retail "or less" on the value of the bike, and NOT for the after marked/new consumable parts (like the $50 worth of fresh moble-1 or the $250 mounted '207 I just did). That will be in AT LEAST a month. I didn't decide to keep the bike so much as it refused to leave! I started to make all the modifications to it that would make her better suited to me. Sure, she was still for sale in the same sence that a marries man is trying to"pick up chicks" in a bar. If the offer's good enough, sure, but not really. I put hundreds of dollars and hours of work into that bike in the last couple of weeks to get her "just so".

AS far as posting this other places, there isn't much of a chance that I'll ever get her back. She was probably in a million pieces before I even knew that hse was gone. I just wanted to vent and warn. There's nothing quite like the fealing of standing in your parking lot, helmet in hand, staring at the empty hole that contained your bike before you went to bed.

Thanks all you guys for keeping an eye out for it! I'd love it if the guy really was that dumb, but I tend to agree that it's on it's way to Laconia in milk crates. I'm getting a Bandit next time, no one steals tose things!

well, it's a unique identifier for the frame & engine, if not all the rest of the parts...

can doublecheck sales for the VIN... if it pops up, call the po-po.

no vins on plastic and from what I've heard they usually buy clean title frames for cheap and transfer mostly everything and then sell the bike as tho it was theres. When was the last time someone checked your engine for your vin ? lol

W'boro man shot, killed over motorcycle incident
    By DAVID LEVINSKY
    Burlington County Times

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death
of a Willingboro man who was shot last week during an alleged
motorcycle theft in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Robert Barksdale, 27, died Friday afternoon after being shot in the
head Thursday night outside the Super 8 Motel at Route 17 and
    Socastee Boulevard, police said.

Barksdale's family disputes the police version of why Barksdale was
at the motel. They claim he was in Myrtle Beach for a vacation and
was not involved in criminal activity.

Horry County, S.C., police detectives said Barksdale and as many as
three other men - including Willingboro resident Ronald Freeman, 25 -
were trying to steal several motorcycles parked at the motel. Two
owners saw them loading their motorcycles in a dark-colored van. One
of the owners pulled a handgun and fired one shot through the van
windshield after he was nearly run over trying to block the robbers'
    escape, detectives said.

The bike owner then fired several more shots at the vehicle as it
    drove away, police said.

Barksdale was driving the van. He was hit in the head by the shot
that went through the windshield and then drove into a nearby house,
police said. He was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in
Myrtle Beach, then flown to the Medical University of South Carolina
in Charleston, S.C., where he died the next day, police said.

Two stolen motorcycles were recovered from the van, police said.

Horry County police Detective Allen Large said yesterday the shooting
was under investigation. No charges had been filed against the
    shooter, Large said.

"Everything happened very fast, but in our state a vehicle coming
straight at you is considered (a reason for) self-defense and
justifies the use of deadly force," the detective said.

The shooter is a soldier based in Virginia, Large said. He had a
permit to carry a concealed weapon, the detective said.

Lt. Chuck Dunn of the Myr-tle Beach Police Department said Freeman
and Cory Satterfield, 36, of Philadelphia were charged with grand
larceny for stealing the motorcycles found in the van. A fourth man
may have been involved in the theft and is still at large, police
    said.

Barksdale was on vacation in South Carolina when he wound up in "the
wrong place at the wrong time," said his sister, Belinda Barksdale,
33, of Willingboro. She said his family refuses to believe he was
    involved in any criminal activity.

She said her family believed the incident in which Barksdale was shot
stemmed from a prior dispute between Freeman and one of the bike
owners or between the other men with her brother and one of the bike
    owners.

"We heard that they ran into someone they knew who got into an
argument with Ronald over a stolen bike," Belinda Barksdale
said. "Then a guy came out of nowhere and started shooting. He
sprayed the vehicle with bullets, and my brother got shot. ... He was
in the wrong place at the wrong time. He didn't even have the chance
    to enjoy himself down there."

She said her brother was employed as a trucker and is survived by a 4-
    year-old daughter.

Shit just got worse. My roomate needs surgury and iwithout selling the condo to moove to an elevated building so he can have this done. She'll make me a deal, kinda, but it looks like I might have to use the money from the INsurance to buy a house, NOT a bike!! I'm not sure if I'm happy that I'm getting the dough to buy a house or pissed that I have to divert the funds. I'm kinda thinking about thyat whole "God never closes a door unless he opens a window" thing. I guess bikeless is better than homeless, and I will still have the GreenDRZ. I can't wait untill tomorrow to go get her!

My heart goes out to you man. My '98 ZX6R was stolen in the summer of '00 from right outside my apartment (in a secured lot no less). Late model sportbikes are usually parted out really quick. My experience with the insurance company wasn't great either. Fortunately, I now have a house with a 2 car garage (with security system, too). If I still lived in an apartment I'd probably get one of those alarms that starts shrieking the minute that it senses that the bike is being moved. Disc locks are pretty much useless...just takes a few guys to pick up a sportbike and put it in the back of a van or truck. Keep us updated.

If I do get another "real" bike I'm going to get the alarm with the pager and every thing. I think that such a set up would get bashed to bits on the KLX, so I'm going to get a disk-lock alarm and a cable to shackle it to my car at night.
I kinda said it as a joke, but that Bandit is looking better and better all the time. "Value" priced, Givi bags, big seat for my big ass. Ummm, doughnuts. Would I still be a "sportbiker" or an "Old Man"? If any one even mentions an FZ-1 I'll whack 'em. If I could afford that I could aford any thing else too, like a Falco, SV1000, VFR, Sprint RS. A 919 perhaps, they are cheep second hand... OHH!! [scwhartzneger] how about a V-Strom, ya? [/scwhartzneger]. Not cheep like the Bandit though, more like that FZ-1 that I can't afford since I have to buy a house. Stupid roomate wiht her stupid surgury. The KLX should be plenty of fun around town, may be even pop for a set of 17" rims and Supermotard it for a daily driver...... There's even one nutter out of Cananda who tours on hid DRZ! I might just have to suck it up for a bit. I HATE THIEVES!!!

If you mean the B12 go for it. My friend, however, has a B600 and I think riding that after your last bike would be a total letdown. Btw, the SV1000 (non-s model) isn't too expensive. Hell, you could probably have a lot of fun on an SV650/SV650S. Also do lots of comparison shopping, it can really pay off. Leftovers can be great deals (did I mention here yet about the deal I got on my new leftover VTR1000F? Honda has a couple of great financing deals right now too). Sometimes in life you just have to make the best out of whatever situation you find yourself in. Good luck.

EDIT: Did I mention that I'm selling my '00 YZF600R?

And I'm still a tiny bit confused as to why your roomate having surgery requires you to buy a house. I'll try to reread your posts and figure it out, though. Not that buying a house is a bad thing...I recommend it highly!
