    Stomp Grips vs Tech Specs

Looking to get some tank grips, probably for both bikes. After a little poking around it seems the consensus is snake skins are a nice addition for the street and the stomps give you a little extra bite and might be better on the track.

Just looking for any experienced input. Thanks a bunch.

I've never had stomp grip but I can tell you that tech spec is great for street and track both.

I've also gone the cheap route and used hard rubber stair treads with a diamond plate pattern from the local hardware shop on the bike too.

Couldn't tell the difference through the leathers. I think Darkduc was still using his too.

My new track bike has a single stomp grip on the right side and nothing on the left. I like it.. I want a set.

I like stomp grip, but never get the clear as it almost always shows bubbles

Re: Stomp Grips vs Tech Specs

My techspecs lasted about a year before they were falling off. I just stuck some stomp grips on last night, and they seem to have much better stiction. But, the ones chipper has seem every bit as good as the techspecs.

Did you clean your tank before putting them on and did you heat the surface of the tank with a blow dryer? My stomp pads have been on my r1 for 2 yrs.

Mine always seem to slip/move around on hot days.I just have to re-apply them in the correct spot, they have never fallen off though.

I cleaned the tank, but I can't remember if I heated it up or not...

I have Stomp Grip on my R6 and love them. Been on there for probably 5 or 6 years and are still going strong. One of these days I'll get some for my Aprilia.

Awesome thanks for the input, I'll probably grab some stomps for the track bike. Still debating the Daytona though. I think its such a sexy bike in the white and blue, I'm having a hard time thinking about sticking these suckers on the tank and messing it up.

I've used both. Stromp grips work better for actually gripping, tech specs look prettier.

I'd like something like that for the dirtbike frame just above the peg... can you send me some info? the "grip tape" treads are all I could find.

Like Jason said...rubber stick on stair tread, $7

Has nice diamond plate style tread, works great. I think lowes carries it.

Stomp Grip for track, Skins for street where you just need a little slide prevention.

I put on HT Moto pads this year and its pretty much the same stuff but cut in a diamond pattern. when I got them I didn't think they'd grip at all but they work good.

I've used Tank tredz for a few years prior and they were good but got dirty really quick and actually wore out.

I've tried bikes with stomp grip and it works but I found them uncomfortable because I could feel the nubs through my suit.

Re: Stomp Grips vs Tech Specs

I have the clear stomp grip on all my bikes. I put it on my first race bike in 2010, still there, not moving. I put them on my street bike at the same time and they're still on and look good. I put them on my new bike in 2011 and they too are fine. Granted the bike have not have three strait years of riding but they do get used.

If you're really careful you can put them on with out bubbles.

the stomp grip does feel funny when you're not wearing leathers

Re: Stomp Grips vs Tech Specs

Stomp grip has far more grip then techspec. But they are rather ugly and chew up leathers/riding jeans.

If installed correctly though the Stomp Grip will not show bubbles. I have them on my GSXR and 675r and no bubbles at all. Just need to use a heat gun and apply them slowly.

Re: Stomp Grips vs Tech Specs

I have tech specs on my striple. They've moved a little bit from the hot days, but not enough to need reapplying.

Never thought to try stair treads, but I bet that'd work out fine.
