Took be from MA to FL (20 hours) when I got my license in . At one point I was catching a little draft from a 18 wheeler to stretch out a little. Low and behold a 4' piece of a blown retread get kicked up and over my head. I left a dent in that tank from my helmet trying to avoid the chunk of rubber.

It was a great 1st timer. I had this bile for 5 years and put over 50,000 on it. I remember leaving dark rubber marks/sliding the rear from the 130 rear tire in one particular turn. Thus prompting me to a machine that could put me back in line. The 929.

this is why I don't like people tailgating me. I don't care how much gas it saves someone. In 4.5 years I've blown 2 tires. It wasn't the retread that came off like you think. its everything but the sidewall that comes flying out at you. sounds like your situation it was just a piece he kicked up off the road. the only thing holding the sidewalls together are some chords and maybe some rubber. The second one I did the lady behind me was lucky she was in the next lane cause it would have went through her windshield and possibly killed her if she was behind me. that was the entire circumference of the tire in one large piece.

Yea it was picked up from the road. It was long and straight. I GOT A GOOD LOOK AT IT.

They have almost the same sized engine, too.

My friend had a Geo Metro with the 1.0L 3cyl. We looked at the gross weight capacity printed on the door...like 650lbs. With the four of us in the car, we easily were over that by 200 lbs.

it was indeed a fun bike! @ 5750rpm's it just made you "feel" like you were riding fast...upright riding position and electronically controlled front suspension damping
