It is amazing to me how much this looks like MY cafe'd KZ1000
Fairing, drilled reversed dual disks, seat, cam, smoothbores kerker, shortey mirrors
Re: Street Bike to Rekindle the Flame
I think I sold my MG Sport 1200 too soon. The look seems to becoming popular now.
Re: Street Bike to Rekindle the Flame
The Kawi isn't doing it for me. Its too soft and rounded or something.

This. I'm not digging the looks at all either. Not aggressive enough to be good looking.
Re: Street Bike to Rekindle the Flame
saw a review video of it the other day. I kinda liked it, alot. reminds me of my dad's yamaha that i rode on the back of as a kid.
Re: Street Bike to Rekindle the Flame
i was sick of sportbikes a few years ago. i went all in on a motard and couldnt be happier.
Re: Street Bike to Rekindle the Flame
I like that Kawi allot. 111 hp looks like fun.
Re: Street Bike to Rekindle the Flame
Side by side in similar colorways I'm less sure. The Kawi looks more natural, the Yamaha a bit cobbled together

Re: Street Bike to Rekindle the Flame
IMO this is the only paint option to get if you're going with an XSR900...

Re: Street Bike to Rekindle the Flame
I agree on the yellow Yami!
What I don't get is, why is the Kawasaki Z900RS almost 2k more than the Z900?
Are you only paying for styling? Retro even!
Re: Street Bike to Rekindle the Flame
But the Kawi in cafe form. Gets me RIGHT in the childhood.
My Dad had an orange Z1 all done up just like that. So hot.

What do you ride nowadays?
Re: Street Bike to Rekindle the Flame
Adventure bikes including Vstroms
Design for physical characteristics of riders
Design for real world poor quality roads
Before my Strom I had a Gixha 1K but would maintain the Strom is faster on rt 8A in the Berks etc.

Re: Street Bike to Rekindle the Flame
Damn, that FTR gives me a pants tent.
Re: Street Bike to Rekindle the Flame
I hope it isn't too watered down, because it looks righteous.

Re: Street Bike to Rekindle the Flame
As soon as I complete my move I am getting back into riding with a Diavel. Used prices are pretty reasonable now.
It will be my first Ducati, fingers crossed I don't regret not buying another Japanese bike.

I can't speak for Diavels but the prices on the older 848s and 1098s are crazy low now. You can get a lot of bike for the money...

I have two Honda's and two Ducati's - both are equally reliable. Personally, I wouldn't think twice

I'd love one of those superbikes, but I need more of a streetbike for where I am going. Once I get a chance to ride a few of the tracks out there I'll decide what I want for a track day bike. I had planned to take my 600 with me but ended up getting full asking price for it so I let it go. Sold my MX bike and ATV's as well with the intent of getting new stuff later, but now I have lust for the CanAm Maxx UTV. 4 seats, 172hp and 22" of suspension travel looks like loads of fun and less abuse on the body (plus they are street legal in AZ). I think not having any toys left in the garage is fucking with my head...this is the first time in almost 30 years I haven't owned a motorcycle.
Re: Street Bike to Rekindle the Flame
Not sure if someone recommended Ducati Monster but I have a blast on street with it. It's a backroads 1st,2nd,3rd gear bike that can either lift or have your front tire hopping through twists if you want to push it and still be at sane speeds. My bike isn't like the newer bikes that have more HP but I think mine may have more torque. Smaller wheelbase too compared to the newer ones.
Re: Street Bike to Rekindle the Flame
There are quite a few mid-to-upper-size naked bikes that would probably suit his needs well.
He mentions the Yamaha FZ-09; Kawasaki has a nice 900 standard these days.
I would also list, in addition to the Ducati Monster mentioned above (the M821 is a really delightful machine) -- the Ducati Scrambler 800 or 1100, the Triumph Street Triple 765, the Triumph Thruxton 900 or 1200, the new KTM 790 Duke (coming in autumn), maybe one of the MV Agusta 800s, maybe the Moto Guzzi V9 or Griso.
Any of those would be fairly light and nimble, and easy in traffic, yet fun and sporty and enjoyable.
