Re: Street Glide Special First Impressions
Couple hundred wet salty miles on the Glide today, and I have a new appreciation for, Gerbing. Heated jacket liner and gloves made for a pretty decent ride even though the weather sucked this am.

Re: Street Glide Special First Impressions
The Harley branded heated grips are very, very good

No chance in hell yet of getting mine out. Our road is sippy hole right now. Hard to believe I was riding this thing this time of year a couple years ago.

Definitely on my list.

1) The exact model of mine was on the floor. Same year, same color, about the same mileage. Tag was $23,000. I paid $17K OTD in Feb. of last year (2020)
2) They didn't have the color combo 2021 I want. But they'd be happy to sell me the 2020 with SIMILAR colors with 1000 miles for a mere $1000 less than the 2021 I was interested in (they sold it a couple weeks ago).
3) Either way, if I trade it they're willing to give me $1000 more than what I paid for it. I'm sure I'd get more if I actually played around with them, but I wasn't in the mood.
I told them if they could find a 2021 blacked out Charcoal Metallic Street Glide, we'd talk. Fuck me, man.

I usually let 'em just go to voicemail. But I accidentally answered once. Even after telling (whoeverthefuckitwas) to stop with the phone calls, I can still count on one every couple weeks. They're relentless...
They've been calling to let me know they can get me lower financing on my current loan, but no word on the particular bike I'd consider. Odd approach.

Re: Street Glide Special First Impressions
They must've been reading this. Got a voicemail at 1:34 checking to see if I'm still "looking to secure a bike for the upcoming season".

Re: Street Glide Special First Impressions
Anyone use Harley throw over saddle bags?!
Reviews on Harley’s site are not good.
Basically just thinking of buying a pair just for Laconia, and won’t keep them on the Street Bob often. Probably a safe bet

When I had my Dyna I was looking at places like:
Viking: https://www.vikingbags.com/harley-da...saddlebags.htm
Motorcycle ID: https://www.motorcycleid.com/2017-ha...ms-saddlebags/
And a couple others I can't think of right now...

The triumph bars are thinner, levers are way lighter, tranny is more snick-snick, and oddly hard to find neutral.
But that 107 is still a freight train. The 1200 is respectfully grunty tho

Have you gotten a chance to talk to him recently?

I know the bars on mine always seemed larger in diameter. Well, judging by the grips anyway. They're definitely built for larger paws.

That huge throw from 1 - 2 is evident on the 96 and 103 as well. Wasn't as pronounced on the 88 with the 5-spd but still a lot compared to any other bike I've ridden.

It's there on mine as well. Yet another reason I love my heel shifter. I've noticed that on just about any big Harley I've ridden. If there's no heel shifter, you have to be very deliberate going from 1st to 2nd.

Hard to believe I was commuting on the bike this time two years ago.

Re: Street Glide Special First Impressions
Managed to tally up a couple small spins a couple days after work this week. Can't wait to boot the fuck outta Manch and grab the bike today!

Re: Street Glide Special First Impressions
If you ever happen to find yourself futzing around with the bike and re-installing the tank and you notice you have pinched and incorrectly routed the evap line, fix it then. Do not wait until after you go for a quick rip to town and back and find the crank vent has blown back half a quart into your air cleaner.

Nothing like hearing your three year old cry out "ooh, look, smoke!".
What a mess..

I am thinking of trading a 2007 Electra Glide Ultra Classic with 14,500 miles on it for a AK550 possibly from a dealership, How do y’all like your Ak550 and am I stupid for doing the trade? I thought I wanted a big bike but this thing is too powerful and heavy for me. Plus I hate the idea of shifting gears.
From the Kymco forum I am on, since Suzuki discontinued the 650 Burgman, Kymco's AK550 is now the largest cc scooter on the market. (msrp $9899)

Have you talked numbers at all? Manchester Harley if offering tires for life… but charging $5,000 over msrp. I’m thinking of selling my street bob after Laconia, and I know it’s a Loooooong Shot, but maybe trying to by. 2022 at the end of the year if there are any. Sucks I’ll have to settle for no adm as a good deal on what should be almost a leftover.

I sat down and talked for a minute. They were *kind of* generous on my trade value, but not where I wanted it. They weren't really budging enough for new on their end and weren't budging at all for the newer (used) one. Payments were where I'd want them, but it would've tacked on a couple more years to what I'm looking at now. Meh...
I'd have to find something that REALLY flipped by dangles to take the plunge and it'd have to be a great fuckin' deal on my end.

And with the temp shutdown of their big manufacturing plant due to parts issues, forget getting any deals any time soon.

Geez. Did not know that. Oh well, not a necessity, just greed.

Yeah, can't wait to see what it does to the already incredibly bloated used market for these pigs!
