    1098R vs 1000rr

So I was doing some light reading on traction control and came across this article. Its lengthy, but the Reader's Digest version is they took a stock 1098R and a 1000rr, modded only enough to be comparable (exhaust and TC) and ran them head to head on the street and track. Its a decent read if you have some time.

If it doesn't discuss a gixxah, then it's not worth reading.

I doesn't discuss a gixxer because they don't even come close to comparing

No shit, the gixxers are already a lap ahead of the 1098 and CBR

So how many laps behind the MV does that leave them?

With Hardley calling the shots? The 1098 and CBR are 10+ laps ahead of the MV

On another note, anyone ridden a bike on the street or track, with traction control?

Kinda currious, what if the ass end starts to slide mid-turn...instead of staying on the throttle and riding it out with a hellacious power slide, the TC cuts the power and then ? highside

And for the record... the Suzuki came in second to last in literbike comparisons

"The GSX-R doesn't really do much wrong," writes Kento in his notes. "It's just that in this company its few faults really get amplified." Add in the wooden-feeling brakes of our test unit-the only real flaw in the overall package-and you've got a third-place bike.

From what I gathered from the article, you can choose how much or little the traction control actually cuts power (there are 8 settings, including 'off' on the 1098r). It doesn't cut it completely in most cases, just enough to slow the rear tire a bit.

From this and a few other articles I've read, traction control is pretty useless and sometimes dangerous on the street, there are too many bumps and such for it to be effective.

    Re: 1098R vs 1000rr

It sounds like a really good idea...and it works (well it did) work quite well with Formula 1...but then again they have 4 extremely wide, sticky tires with incredibly stupid amounts of down force.

I guess TC shouldn't really be compared street versus track. At least VT and NH roads will get you airborn, the track should be a tad smoother.

Ah well, TC = right wrist.

Now that quick shifter stuff sounds cool too

Oh darn, I read all the cool stuff about the 1098r and didn't even feel inclined to read the stuff about the CBR.

    Re: 1098R vs 1000rr

In the first paragraph they said they were going to keep the price of the 1098R out of it but all along the way they mention that the 1098R is better but not for the money. They then gave the Honda TC and a exhaust to make it fair, nice stock comparison right there. Speaking of the exhaust, the 1098R comes with a termi half system but to keeps things fair the Honda got a full system.

    Re: 1098R vs 1000rr

The CBR1000RR may have been slightly faster, but the 1098R is the most AMAZING bike myself (and quite a few others) have ever ridden. That bike is fucking retarded. Thing is god damn magic on wheels.... never forget the experience of riding that bike...
