    Suggested reading re: motorcycle racing?

Anyone have any books about motorcycle racing to suggest? Doesn't have to be an encyclopedia or how-to (although I how-to wouldn't suck). I'm thinking something like the motorcycle equivalent of "Fast Guys, Rich Guys and Idiots" if any of you have read that. If not, and you enjoy reading and are at all interested in car racing it's a great book.

I figure since I like to read and racing is occupying 80% of my thought lately, I'd try to pick up some good reads on motorcycle racing.

    Thanks,

    Dan

Twist of the Wrist by Keith Code is what I started with, it helped me to identify some of the bad habits I had.

There are a lot of mixed opinions about Keith Code's books, but I find them helpful with singling out what problems I may have had and offers an aproach to solving them that I may not have considered before.

Ken's book isn't so much about racing, but it WILL help you form that solid foundation upon which to build more advanced riding skills... and IMO, that solid foundation is paramount. Just about EVERYONE can improve upon the basics.

i know it's not reading material but i'd recomend watching both "faster" and "the doctor, tornado and the kentucky kid".

nothing to do with riding technique but if you like bike racing they are must see dvds.

Thanks guys. I'll see what I can find in stores. Unfortunately ordering online is still out for me because my *#^% bank still has not gotten me another bank card since they shut my old one off for fraudulent activity. Hopefully I'll have that next week.

TOTW II is my favorite as far as racing technique goes. Others around here hate it, but I applied the principles and did the exercises religiously and won many races and an expert championship... YMMV.

The only reason I don't hate you is that I will be in Florida next week!

Tough read if you have not been on the track. Once you have been on the track, then read the book it all comes into play. First time I had to read some chapters twice to understand what Keith was talking about. I read it every pre-season as a refresher and diagnose every corner with every chapter.

Yeah, I read it first after a season and a half of racing. I think it's not accessible until you have some racing under your belt, which is why many people dismiss it.

+1 TOTW II is my first pick. You'll learn more and more from it as time goes on and you understand what he's talking about more. It also breaks down what you're feeling on the track and analyzes the techniques, theories, and results of different aspects of racing a motorcycle....the things you learn without realizing as you race, he explains in words on paper pretty well.

I actually picked up TOTW II yesterday while eating lunch and was flipping thru it and yet again had to push it away going 'my god'.

Do not like his style, just not for me.

I picked this up from Barnes and Noble a few months ago and found it to have some good information.
