Re: suitable generator for tire warmers?
So, my 2200 will handle two sets of warmers, fan, lights, my coleman electric cooler, etc. It'll manage a single set of warmers and my trailer AC with some care to make sure they all don't decide to power on at the same moment. (A soft start kit for my AC would help a TON...)
Re: suitable generator for tire warmers?
I've got the harbor freight 2k inverter, it's been reliable 2 seasons now running warmers and my trailer.
Re: suitable generator for tire warmers?
Hey Iglu: I just listed my MINT Honda eu2000i for sale. Let me know if you're interested. I've got some wiggle room.....but NOT MUCH.

HF warranty is only 90 days, presumably they sell extended contracts.

Ryobi 2200 I have had it for 5 years with no problems
Re: suitable generator for tire warmers?
Hey - I’ve got a Honda generator question. Is the quiet-ness of the Honda dictated by the Honda motor, or the whole package? Looking at some larger generators (not made by Honda) that use Honda motors. Will those be louder than something with a Briggs and Stratton, or something else?
Re: suitable generator for tire warmers?
It's the construction, combined with being inverter based rather than generator so they can lower the RPMs when not at peak demand. A non-Honda traditional generator in an open frame design will be just as loud with a Honda, Honda GY clone, Subaru, etc engine. On the flip side, inverter style in a good enclosure and they're all similar in how quiet they are regardless of motor mfg.

This is accurate.
Ive got a 7500 watt coleman genny with honda gx390 motor, and it's not anywhere near being quiet. Never worry about how it's going to run though, it's a friggin honda.

Re: suitable generator for tire warmers?
The Honda EU3000i is even quieter than the 2000, but a lot heavier and more expensive. EU2000’s are pretty portable. We’ve added the metal handle kit for locking, and have a Companion and cables for parallel use.
Honda has upgraded to the EU2200, same form factor. They set a price floor but we bought one for my sister in FL from Northern Tool and got a $100 gift card.
Re: suitable generator for tire warmers?
Thread revival... Been waiting to pull the trigger on a generator for warmers, just bought one from, freaking ADLI's! Yep, went cheapo, $250 for a Workzone 2000w inverter generator, comes with a three year warranty so I figured what the hell?
Re: suitable generator for tire warmers?
I got a champion from bass pro shops. 2000w for 450 bucks

Whereabouts? I picked one up in Milford, CT on Monday for $279. Still not a bad price, but I had seen these go for as low as $129 in other states.

Aldi's is special.
Re: suitable generator for tire warmers?
Just get the Honda
They are practically silent and bulletproof
Re: suitable generator for tire warmers?
I have another brand name of this exact same generator. Got it for about $200. Thing works mint. Quiet as hell too.
For trackday purposes, it's great. Runs both my warmers and a helmet fan at once without a sweat.
I wouldn't toss the coin down for a Honda in this situation. Just doesn't warrant the extra expense for something that's really more of a nicety vs necessity.
