    Talking SuperCharger?

Um well where would I get one. What would be the benefits, how much dependability would I lose and would it eat a TL for breakfast?

    SuperCharger?

You want a Turbo charger. Easier to mount in the restrictive spacing of the bike.

You couldn't mount a supercharger on a sportbike and make it neat / clean looking. Between mounting it the intake track, and getting a belt to drive it would be too much.

An exhaust driven turbo is much neater.

turbo kits are already being produced with more economical cost. Turbos are somewhat more efficient anyway and turbo lag is not as big a concern on a bike like a TL that makes strong low end alread.

    Turbo Charger = free HP
Supercharger uses HP to make HP..Belt driven ones anyway.

Nothing is free. There are always considerations, compromises and trade-offs when seeking HP.

Hmmm...well lets see....The 520 cu in V8's that we used to build made approximately on the average, 2000 hp, HP required to turn the "root's type supercharger, and maintain 45-50 lbs per square inch manifold pressure was approx 300 hp @ 8000 rpms Fuel used was methanol....

Then there was the 450 HP 1260 cc (76.86 cu in) "FunnyBike" that ran approx 35-40 lbs of manifold pressure, and being Turbocharged, didn't give up anything to add any extra "Load" on the crankshaft, except for the "Belt driven" fuel pump and Magneto. Now mathematically, the 1260 cc bike makes only 2 hp more per cu in than the 520 cu in engine, BUT, the 520 cu in engine is seeing 3 plus atmospheres at the manifold where as the bike engine is only 2 plus atmospheres. If we ran the bike at 45-50 lbs of manifold pressure, it would equate to adding another 1260 cc of displacement, and thus adding another 225 HP.

Now back to what I said....Turbos use the Heat Energy from the exhaust to turn the turbine, which of course spins the compressor. This is energy that is LOST thru the exhaust, which is recouped to turn a turbine, There are NO mechanical connections to the crankshaft. Free power.... If compared to a naturally aspirated engine which ALWAYS looses energy to the exhaust.

Superchargers. such as "roots type, or cetrifugal" require to be driven by the crankshaft, thus using power that could be put to the wheel(s) Not FREE power.....

    SuperCharger?

I would deffinately go for a turbo set up, over a supercharger. My current car has and it is one of the best hp makers out there that is reliable, and relatively inexpensive. Hey TLRman if I were you I would deff. put a turbo on the focus. There are a couple companies that make a bolt on kit for it too...It would kick a$$ to have one of those.

Turbos do require a little more "plumbing" exhaust gets rerouted, some kits just require a quick weld. You also have to poke a return oil line fitting into the oil pan. Then there are the intercooler(s) pop off valves, and your fuel management system, to do it right, different rods/crank "O" ring the heads, lower comp pistons, and then you can have fun..If you are gonna bolt one on for just a mere 5 lbs of boost, it isn't really worth it, but you will notice some gains...My little 1.6 mitsubishi, ran with 15lbs of boost on 89 octane (barely), but really ran well at 18-20lbs with 93 octane. This was with the TD04 turbocharger, and intercooled. Nothin super fancy, just a Mustang GT ass kicker!

Then there was my friends 275 HP 1.5 liter Hyundia....
