    SV Racing Parts rearsets- opinions/experience?

Thinking about pulling the trigger on a set of these:

for the SV1000. Seems like a decent price compared to woodcraft, vortex, etc. Anyone have experience with these rearsets? How do they compare in terms of durability/adjustability/quality? My other option would be woodcraft, but they only come in silver for my bike and I really want black to match the frame.

All the reviews over on svrider.com seem pretty decent, but I figured I'd get as much input as I can before I make a final decision.

    Thanks!

    What type are they?

My only question is, how available are the replacement parts for them? Woodcraft and Vortex are both very easy to find replacement parts for, so if you should mess something up, you don't have to replace the entire rearset.

i wont buy them simply for the same reason i wont buy PowerStands products. They blatantly copy other peoples products as their own.

If PowerStands is associated, they're bound to be poor quality.

Call Woodcraft and double check on the color issue. I was making notes today on changes for the 2010 catalog and I *thought* I heard 'black' SV rearsets was a option.

PSR is not related, the guy who owns SVRP did the same thing PSR did.

Re: SV Racing Parts rearsets- opinions/experience?

I already talked to Eric about colors.. They don't offer it now, but are possibly considering it for the future.

You can get replcament parts through the svracingparts.com for those rearsets I believe. I would say if your not racing these would be okay, but its impractical if you do race to wait a couple days for replacement parts in the mail after a drop. Unless you want to keep an entire extra set of rearsets kicking around which defeats the point of buying a cheaper rearset.

Woodcraft is always trackside, I went with it for convenience alone. Plus they are like 15 min from my house

Re: SV Racing Parts rearsets- opinions/experience?

Thanks for the replies! I don't really know anything about them ripping off someone else's design, and frankly if they can build the same quality for cheaper then it's an obvious choice.

I definitely won't be racing, although trackdays may be an option in the near future. It sucks to have to wait a few days for parts, but realistically with any other brand I'd have to wait just as long if I ordered online.

I'd rather get a dedicated track bike instead of risking my daily rider though (as dictated by funding!)

The other option would be a set of used OSF rearsets, although I've heard some pretty... mixed reviews about the company and how long people have waited for spare parts...

The only other comment I can offer is that I've had nothing less than great experiences with SVRP. I would be inclined to think that if they offer the product, its a decent product. Since you'r not racing, I would say go for it.

Re: SV Racing Parts rearsets- opinions/experience?

On my first TD, I binned the bike into the T3 wall. I didn't break much, but what I did break was @ S&C. If I had non-WC clip-ons I likely would have bought a set of WC trackside just to finish the day. If you plan on riding at the track, I'd be hesitant to buy anything that you can't get parts for @ the track, especially rearsets.

Oh, and manufacturers that copy other peoples products suck.

buy the Woodcraft. They are better for several reasons.
We have a 10% off with free shipping right now on a full set through Jan. 31st.
pm me if you want them.

on this sentiment. My first track day w. the SV, I lowsided in T6. I was back up and running inside of an hour, thanks to the fact that Miles was there and had the peg and clip-on I needed for my Woodcraft parts. The bracket was bent, but PK made it straight again.

based on looks alone & nothing more, the pedal linkage doesn't look all that durable.

Woodcraft may or may not come in black, but I know they're durable as all hell and most of the time you can get replacement parts just by walking over to an on-track vendor.

Excellent! I already PMed Duncanmoto about ordering a set, but we haven't finalized anything. What's the cost going to be on the black SV rearsets?
