You made that????
Please tell us more about the build.
Electric motorsicles are cool shit
~ Life passes most people by while they're busy making grand plans for it.~
Sorry for the late reply, was vactioning on the Vineyard with the Obamas...
The bike's electric drive is made with rejected Vectrix electric scooter parts (motor with non-concentric/non-perpendicular shaft, batteries with less-than-minimum-spec capacity, etc.). Unfortunately, the company is now bankrupt
Hopefully whoever buys up the assets is a "force for good" rather than a soulless, visionless, short-term-gain greedhead. We shall see...
The bike only has ~26hp, and the motor only revs to 5500rpm (actually, at the moment only 5050). It is quick off the line in 1st gear (instant torque), but the low redline is the primary reason for having to shift quickly. Still, it's a freaking hoot!
A friend off mine has one of their scooters.
Anyway that is pretty cool what you got there.
Looks like you have some outboard batteries in back, off
the sides there, as well as where the gas tank would be right?
The relative quiet and the quick accel has got me interested.
It'd be a great city mobile perhaps with a smaller lighter frame...
Like an RS125 or something!
Are those lithium ion batteries? Are those the ones with the most
bang for the weight right now?
Well as battery technology progresses I think we'll start to see more of these!
2008 Honda CBR 600RR
Batteries are located where the gas tank was, where the radiator was, where the airbox was, where the front cylinder and head were, and yes, in saddlebag position on either side of the rear tire! They're nickel-metal-hydride. It would be fantastic to get some lithium batteries for it. Weight at the moment is on the order of 480 lb. With an equivalent-energy lithium pack, that would drop to ~380 (a smidge less than my stock '00 SV, empty).
Cool. I wanna play too.
Now with a headlight, taillight/brakelight, and battery charger!
(that's not me in the pics, btw, just the guys who have done most of the work!)
