Can someone shed some light on the topic? Everytime I watch a MotoGp race, I see these little sweat bands around the resovoirs, specifically #69 Nicky H. Whats the reasoning behind this? I noticed today that brake fluid was sweating out of the crease of my resovoir cap so I took part of a sock and stretched it around the cap for now until I get a chance to see why its coming out.. were talkin extremely small amounts not even a healthy droplet. Is this a seal issue or is it inevitable when leaning over alot. This is what got me thinking about the sweatbands I see on the GP bikes.. ANy wisdom/ Knowledge? Thanks![]()

Except, you're only allowed two questions per race weekend...
...and this counts as one.
Dont listen to the horses asses .
They have a hard time with ass, or hole in the ground

Little research ...Bada BIng. Does this sound about right??
Racing brake fluid absords alot of moisture from the atmosphere, the 'sweat band' is there to try to absorb some of the moisture before it gets into the reservoir![]()

Seriously Bro, Are u yankin me or is that correct. Just Fuckin tell me.. BTW, did u ever get back at a certain douchebag residing within your residence
Uh....yeah that sounds good except for the fact that water on the outside of the reservoir is........outside the reservoir, not in it.
So much for that theory.
I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
no, that's wrong.... yes, i got back at himOriginally posted by FireFly

ALright, Brake fluid is some potent stuff, is it a precaution to keep fluid from sweating out & leaking onto parts that could cause problems during a race? Is it there to prevent leak down when adding fluid?? IS it there to prevent the cap from vibrating loose and pissing fluid down on electronics etc..??????Oh yeah, Heh what did u do to get back.

Condensation????
What about it?
Take a glass of ice water, and a glass of boiling water, and set them outside in this humidity, tell me which one gets condensation on it first.
Condensation on the OUTSIDE of the reservoir isnt going to get INSIDE, if it does somehow form.![]()
I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
Boston --> San Diego
Lots of heat and expansion during repeated decels from 180mph+ to 20mph and hoping to keep it contained, not let it seep out......??
Or vibration...
Or ya know how milk goes bad in the sunlight....
Or.....ahh F it, Im getting another beer.
yup.... it's a proven fact that sweat bands provide incredible protection from solar wind caused by solar flares. NASA uses them on all their delicate satellites. They have an afinity towards Adidas bands.Originally posted by a13x

If you guys won't tell him I'm going to.
It's so the sweat keeps out of the reservoir's eyes

RIP A.B. RIP BEET, I Ride in Leathers because I would rather sweat than Bleed...
Does the sun break down the fluid and the sweatband is simply a sun blocker to preserve the integrity of the fluid?
I honestly never gave a shit but now i am interested because of this thread...
