    H.A.R.D. System

"Helmet Assisted Radar Detector" Anyone have one and care to share their opinion? I'm going to get a radar detector that I will swap from bike to car and I think that this HARD system is the way to go on a bike. Also, what type of radar detector mount did you go with? I've searched and found some nice ones that mount on the steering nut. Unfortunately, none were listed for my year model.

    Re: H.A.R.D. System

I've neer actually riddenwith the H.A.R.D. system, but I have tried out a helmet with one in it

for me, I prefer an audio alert, the visual alert is too distracting for me

on my V-1 I have the audio adaptor and a 1" wafer speaker in my helmet works fine, soon though I am abandoning my wafer speaker and moving up to an AutoCom

I have alwasy mounted my detector directly above my hand on the throttle side, kinda right below my mirror, when I hear the alert, a quick glance to see the direction arrow & bnogey count is the same as a glance in the mirror

on my SV, I had a homemede mount, on my v-strom, a RAM mount to the control pod, this location I have also found best for not getting signals blocked by traffic or your own body it's outboard just enuf, it can see past you

I have the HARD system and I like it. I have an ESCORT 8500. I just stick it in my map case on top of my tank bag...no mount.

The HARD is great...you just have to remember to turn it off when you stop or the batteries wear down pretty quickly. I like my system because its very stealthy...no load beeping and the detector itself is practically unnoticable...

    my 2 cents...

I hear ya on the visual alert as far as distracting concerns. I'm looking to try it out and hope to cope with it.

I used to mount my Beltronics V995 on the windshield of my brother's Katana. Worked great and the speaker was plenty loud. I'm eventually going to wire up my STi Driver onto my Triumph but I've been a bit lazy.

Radarbusters.com has a bunch listed for different diameter tubes...
I'm not sure of the exact diameter, but I can tell you that a spent case from a Smith and Wesson 500 Magnum fits in there perfectly. That may be the only bling on my bike... if spent handgun brass counts as bling. If you're set on that style of mount and can't find anything to fit PM me. I could likely turn an adapter for you on the lathe.

I found this site the other night. I will get this. The 13mm one fits the 07 gixxer 1k.(if I remember right) This will be for my gps and now still I got to get one for the radar. I'm thinking a handlebar mount which they sell but I'd have to measure my Heli Bar diameter to see which one fits. They don't list my bike in their handle bar list but if its the same dimension as what they list, it should. Thanks for the fabrication offer and yes, spent gun trinkets I would consider bling.
