Taking the bike to Newport, RI advice?

Only ever been to RI once a week back to help my wife set up this corporate shindig at the Inn & Marina.

It ended up we're driving separate, so I'm taking that opportunity to take a bike over. Leaving from Brattleboro.

I've got until 6p to get out there. Any great places to hit on the way out? I saw a Ducati shop, put in a favorite on the GPS, last week, might stop there.

Any must see's for the weekend?

Any riders in the area want to get together for a ride tomorrow, I'll buy ya a beer, if you show me around.

Just thought I'd toss it out here, sorry so late.

    Thanks in advance fellow NESR's

Ah, sorry. If I wasn't having an open house I'd join you in Newport. The main drag through the mansions then down the coast is slow with traffic but worth it IMO. There will be lots of people out down there this weekend since it looks to be warming up.

the ocean road ride through newport is a really good one and there a lot of good views and cool stuff to see, (and you could catch the tag in the RI tag thread). Brick alley pub is awesome and i like the red parrot too for stuff in newport, just walking around on thames street is pretty cool. If you want to cross the bridge there gansett and jamestown which are cool beach towns down here and like riz said the coast guard house just opened this weekend so its a good place to stop and grab a bite (expensive) or a drink with an awesome view and gansett beach is an awesome place to just hang out even when its not nice out. If i wasnt busy entertaining a friend all weekend id be glad to take you on a few rides through here, but not this weekend. You could always stop by twisted throttle in exeter too, probably only about a half hour out of newport.

and dont forget your ezpass! tolls are a pain on the bike

Thanks to all of you for stepping up quick. Good advice. Hit it all, avoided the rain that was forecasted. Great area to bomb around on the bike

We were with a big group so had to do the touristy thing at least once and had lobsters at Barking Crab. Checked out all the mansions and Cliff Walk. The Fort, point, cool place down on the beach that you can go up top.
Only downside was the damn EZpass, thought it worked in my pocket before, so I just used my lil compartment in the fairing and just pulled it out and held it up, on the way back.
Traffic was NOTHING!?? When does that ever happen, guess it's still early for full blown SEASON. We'll definitely go back.
The Speak Easy Bar and Grill was a good lunch, even the slabbin' that I did wasn't too bad.

With what this property must cost, GRAZING LAND? SERIOUSLY? Some expensive grass you're munchin' on their little ponies and Llamas.

This lil' rascal had to come check out my Steel Horse.

I believe that overpriced grazing land you are referring to is Hammersmith Farm. That's where a young Jacqueline Bouvier spent her early days.

I cannot imagine what that land is worth and they just decided to place some interesting animals randomly about? Must be good to have more money than God? Passed a Viper GTS, saw a private helicopter landing at one Mansion, couple of Ferraris with the tops down. Folks out there must be driven nuts by everyone just coming out to gawk..... ya know..... like me!

If it's just a bit past Fort Adams, that's Hammersmith. It was JFK's summer White House.
