Knox® CE approved TP2 back armor

Rear kidney stretch panel in pants
Comfort collar system, a 1pc neoprene collar

I have the feeling that when just wearing the jacket, it is going to be really short and sitting way above the belt line, when I want it just below the belt line.

    What do you guys think?

I bought a teknic chicane from newenough back when I started doing trackdays. Was comfortable enough and I rode with it for two years before crashing this march down at VIR (see avatar).

The leather held up fine but the suit was made from several panels of leather sewn together, and the stitching completely blew apart at all the points that touched the ground. This was in a relatively low speed crash, ~20-30 mph.

Now, the lightning in the picture is the step up from the chicane and appears to be made up of fewer pieces of leather, nevertheless the whole incident has made me wary of teknic's stitching and I wouldn't buy another teknic suit.

The model I replaced it with was a relatively cheap AGV but it was made up of solid pieces of perfed black leather and while I haven't crashed it yet, I believe it will hold up better simply because it is a solid design without the strips of various colored leathers like the chicane. When it comes to suits I'm now a believer that less stitching = teh win.

Do you think a jacket and pants combo, not an actual 2 piece, would be better?
Or, again, does it depend on the stitching and jacket?

a true 2-piece is obviously built to match up to eachother, so in that aspect, a 2-pc would be better... however if you're gonna go on street rides & wear just the jacket, try it on by itself to make sure the jacket is long enough. Typically the jacket that comes w/ a 2pc is a little shorter than your average street jacket.

I've got an Alpinestars GPU 2-pc & love it (i'd love it even more if it wasn't at fukin Jane's house )

So you find that your jacket from your 2 piece is long enough for normal street use?

I got a Teknic Chicane 2 piece for like $230. It fits well and appears well constructed although I have been told they are cheap POS. ( I wish someone woulda said something) It seems like it is good enough for the amount of trackdays I do, I haven't tried just the jacket but I would think it would be ok alone.

Another note on sizing, I think they run a little small I thought I would fit in a 44 but a 46 was MUCH better (plus I can get it altered, easier to alter to smaller than larger) So you might want to get one size bigger.

I have an older version of that suit.

The jacket is way short to wear without the pants.. I never wear it alone.

They are track leathers period.. no good for the street. (Only one pocket doesn't help)
