What Bergs said. Riding in the rain is fun!! So long you have sufficient grip and have appropriate gear.

I find rain riding to be generally quite enjoyable. Coming over a mtn ridge and seeing all the clouds and inclement weather swirling around you. It goes along with the riding mantra that you're not riding through it, you are a part of it.

Cold riding is a bit different. To be able to beat the cold into submission and just enjoy the fact that you're able to get out there when no one else has found a way to enjoy it like you have makes it that much more pleasurable. I speak only for myself though.

    Candyass!

I rode through winter last year, first year I did it. I actually had a lot of fun and would purposely go for a ride right after a snow storm to see if I could make it down my street.
The coldest I rode in was 15F w/no heated gear, I have heated gear this year.
Now the problem is I don't want to get the new bike dirty.
Kinda sucked chipping ice away to make a path down my driveway to go for a ride.

    Rode Christmas morning to work.

My first year riding snow came early and I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the bike. Keep it covered with tags and coverage so I could ride it whenever or store it. Well, my decision was made for my when the condo association sent me a warning letter to remove my bike or be fined. They don't consider bikes as "real" vehicles and they didn't like how it took up a parking spot and had to be plowed around. So, just to avoid the hassle I store it in November and out in April. Eh, saves on insurance anyway.
So, I guess I only ride in nicer weather 50 and up.
    I hate condo associations......whiney dicks.

I'll ride when it's freezing... I don't care... It's when it's snowing, raining, wet, sandy, or icy that I don't go out...

    With one exception.

nine times out of ten its an electric razor, but...every once in a while...its a dildo. of course its company policy never to imply ownership in the event of a dildo, we have to use the indefinite article "a" dildo ...and not..."your"...dildo...

I was gonna be a smartass and say I start riding anywhere from 130-150+...meaning coolant temp. I was beaten to it tho.

As for air temp...yea I'll take warmer rather than colder.

I'm curious, those of you with sport bikes, or any bike shod with tires like Pilots, BT-016's, Qualifiers, Diablos...how do those go in the cold? My bike has a set of 002's on it now...and quite honestly they resemble a hard piece of plastic. That's enough to get me to say no friggin way to taking the bike out. I don't even want to chance it thinking that I'd pile the thing in the first corner.

I kinda learned said lesson back in the day with my 94 gixxer 750, it was cold out, mid 30's or so. I so much as looked at the throttle and the bike and I went holy sideways up the road. That was my first and last motorcycle ride in temps that cold. I'll stick to the snowmobile.

I have power pilots and they seem to do well. Granted i ride conservativly in the cold but they grip. I did have once where i got on it hard through first and second and when i went into second and let the clutch out (not slowly but not full pop), the back wheel broke a little free. I'm not sure if it was the power spinning tire, or a little bit of salt/sand on the surface.

I agree, they are definitely JUNK when cold, but give them time to warm up and they are okay, but I always ride very conservatively in the winter

cold tire temps AND the sand on the roads :o

Just like the car, I don't break out the bike until after all the salt/gravel is off the road, usually sometime in late March / early April. I ride in most temps down to the mid 30's after that.
